The periodic table is the table in which elements have been arranged according to their atomic number. The
elements are arranged in vertical columns called groups and horizontal rows called periods. Elements having similar
chemical and physical properties are grouped together. The periodic table is mainly made up of metals and non-
metals. Mercury is the only metal in the liquid state at room temperature and bromine is the only non-metal liquid at
room temperature.
