‘Armorers’ Career Script:

(Narrator Starts)

Scene 1: Close up of ‘Armorer’s eyes while he talks to the camera.

Cut to ‘Armorer’ running a blade and firearm around while under pressure.

Script:
So…what is an armorer you ask…well, let me enlighten you.
(Armorer running around on set places blade and gun on table)
Armorers have a vital role during a theatre production, they are the eyes and ears
around the theatrical trickery. The ones in charge of the blades and firearms used in the
dramatic theatre performance. They also assist on the special effects such as lights
(Have flashing lights)
gas, smoke
(smoke comes across screen)
or sound
(Large explosion sound and police sirens).
Quiet on set… lights,
(Armorer hands a person a gun to shoot scene)
“PUT DOWN THE WEAPON LUCY!”
“STAY AWAY… DON’T COME ANYWHERE NEAR ME!”
(Officer steps forward)
“I said stay away!”
“DROP YOUR WEAPON NOW OR I WILL BE FORCED TO TAKE LETHAL ACTION!”
(She runs at police officer)
(officers shoot her dead)

(Armorer runs on set and picks up weapon)
Morbid
I guess that moves to my next point.
My job has many responsibilities, like as you seen handing performers a firearm or in
cases a blade or another type of weapon
(Armorer hands someone walking past a weapon)
of course, we have to ensure that there is no risk to the performers or any risk to the
audience. The safety is my role. I have to make sure not some silly mistake happens
with a sharp blade (2 people run it and one with a bloody hand) what the hell
happened?!
He cut himself with a sharp blade!
I didn’t mean to grab the very razor sharp clearly with a danger note on it and question if
it would hurt blade (they run off)
Mistakes like that…
Now as well as that mess I also have other roles such as…
(director comes into shot)
hey harry, I was thinking we need to have Jacob jump from the catwalk and then stab
Ellie, but if we have him stab the sword next to her and make it seem like he has
seriously stabbed her from the side. Can you do that?
I’ll get it done.
Thank you.
as I was saying, we have many roles such as assisting the directors and ensuring their
vision comes to life through the use of pyrotechnics, firearms and blades. As well as
that we have to make sure the performers using the weaponry are aware of how to
safely handle the weapon without potentially causing harm to anyone. We keep all
weapons hidden away safely when they are not in use at all times to make sure nothing
goes wrong outside of performance. Come speak to one of my other Armorer crew.
(shot pans to another armorer talking to the stunt performer)
Being a armorer is not an easy job, it requires many skills and qualifications. For
example, Engineering, pyrotechnics, mechanics, carpentry and a firearm handling
license. (STUNT PERFOMER WALKS IN)
Shana...!

2
Hey was sup?
The director has said he wants us to be releasing the guns before the firefight to show a
build of tension, the problem is I don’t know how to load it.
(he hands the gun to the armorer)
Let’s have a look… okay you need to pull back the hammer and then its ready to fire,
but first check there is no live ammo inside.
(the armorer checks the gun)
Here you go.
The ability to lead a team and communication is key, we need to make sure all safety
cautions are dealt with and follow health and safety regulations regarding firearms and
blades.
(the other armorer walks in with the pyrotechnician)
Hey Shana, I need you to go talk to the pyrotechnician in a minute he needs help with
harnessing Jacob with the blade safely.
Okay ill be up in 2 minutes.
(pyrotechnician walks away)
Lewis is up.
(the two armorers are watching a performance off stage from the side and a
mistake happens with a sharp blade and he hurts himself.)
(The armorers rush on set)
(It cuts to the two armorers checking on the injured performer)
Are you sure you’re okay?
I’ll be fine.
(the two armorers walk off together with the camera following)
Shana what happened?
I put the wrong blade in the wrong container, I messed up.
Yes, you did. That was a razor-sharp blade we have just allowed someone to perform
with, what if that went worse than it did, and someone was killed, we are responsible for
that. You need to follow the safety regulations it is what your payed to do.
I’m sorry okay.
(a member of staff hands them an envelope.)

3
Hers is your payment for the week.
Talking about pay.
We usually get paid around £150-£300 per day but don’t tend to work everyday
meaning we have a lot of break time, but when we do its long hours.
Although you spend that break time sleeping.
Yes okay.
This job is fun, I have learnt a lot from this role.
(a new apprentice. walk in)
Who is that?
The new apprentice.
What is he learning to do?
An armorer I believe. I feel bad for him, he thinks he is guaranteed the same pay as us.
You never really get paid while being an apprentice or an intern, although due to there
not being many armorers around you tend to get paid nowadays just to keep you there,
they cant exactly have a production with weapons around without an armorer.
(a performer walks over)
We need the weapons for the battle scene its about to be performed.
I have got it.
Please make sure you get the safe one this time.
(Shana hands the performer the weapon)
Thank you
(performer runs off)
You up for a drink after the show?
Sure, why not.
(stage director walks in)
Hey guys, you ensured that the weapon was safe for usage, right?
Shana?
Yes, I took it from the left container.
Wait the left one! (director runs off)

4
Shana the left one was the dangerous one, the one with deadly sharp blade to it you
idiot.
SHIT! (ARMOUER RUNS OFF)
(LOUD SCREAM IS HEARD)
(PEOPLE RUSH AROUND)
WHY THE FUCK IS SOMEONE ALWAYS GETTING HURT FOR FUCK SAKE!

End of Film.
