Arthanaya Capital is an investment-oriented fund still, in its nascent stage, that aims to further the IIM

Ranchi community’s knowledge in financial markets and personal finance through investment analysis
and portfolio management. The body’s investment approach includes every chosen stock or sector
passing through a vigorous fundamental analysis involving top-down GEIC analysis and valuations being
determined by a variety of financial models, both intrinsic and relative, with the market entry being
calibrated by technical analysis of the stocks. It has been formed post identifying an inherent need to
map the name of the coveted institute amongst its peers vis-a-vis the functional knowledge in finance.

Having been set up in the early months of the current academic year 2020-21, Arthanaya Capital has
been able to leave an indelible mark with respect to the quality of the work produced by its members.
The body has started covering 6 sectors, viz., Automobiles, Pharmaceuticals, Information Technology,
Capital Goods, Chemicals, and FMCG. In a bid to deliver industry standard research, the members of the
body have carried out end-to-end research pertaining to the dynamics of the sector, the industry, and
the associated companies in general. The deliverables of our body have been duly appreciated and the
veracity of our research is evident in the recommendations published by the members for the target per
share price of the portfolio of companies covered. One of the reports published by the body on Indian
Energy Exchange (IEX) was able to hit its target price per the recommendation published by the analysts
of the body in the few months of publishing the report. Until now, the body has been dedicatedly
following its draft agenda for the year, as part of which, it has conducted a few knowledge sharing
sessions to fuel the inclination of the student fraternity when it comes to finance and investing.
Furthermore, the members of the body have also been prompt to draft an agenda for the functioning of
the body as a legal fund for making and managing the capital raised from the IIM Ranchi fraternity in
due time. Arthanaya Capital seeks to prepare the students of IIM Ranchi for the industry culture by
imbibing in them the requisite skills and qualities (functional or otherwise) while acting as an enabler for
finance enthusiasts to test case their knowledge.

The longer-term goals of the body are futuristic and have a huge potential for both the student
fraternity and members of the body alike. Moving forward, the body seeks to uphold the prestige of the
coveted institute of IIM Ranchi. At Arthanaya Capital, it’s members have been working tirelessly to keep
the objectives and the deliverables of high standards both qualitatively and quantitatively. In due time,
the body will try diversifying into other sectors and companies which we would like to keep in our
portfolio backed by the work of its respective analysts.
