I. Let’s Know
What is an “entrepreneur”? According to the Investopedia, the term “entrepreneur” was
derived from the French word entreprendre which means “”to undertake”. They “undertake” to
take a risk in creating, organizing and operating the business and also being innovative to the
products and services that they will offer the market. Entrepreneurship on the other hand, is the
process of establishing what type of business the entrepreneur will be creating or introduce to
the market.

Entrepreneurial activities serve as a vital role now in our country most specially in the
economic growth. Through these businesses, job opportunities were established and innovation
of the materials and/or products.

Whatever happens to the business lies on the decision making of the entrepreneur. The
entrepreneur:
• exercises his capabilities on deciding what’s best for the business. Studying the
business’ pros and cons, identifying the problem, providing a solution then, weighing and
choosing the best option.
• businesses were established, job opportunities and new products were created
• the standard living in the society will be improved. A wide variation of products and
services will be offered and readily available in the society.
• Potential investors from all over the world could also see this as an opportunity to
expand its business in our country, which helps our economic growth and attract more
investors that could create more job opportunities for our fellowmen.
There are two factors affecting entrepreneurship namely: personality and environmental
