LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET CULTURAL, SOCIAL, POLITICAL, AND ECONOMIC SYMBOLS AND PRACTICES (WEEK 5)
LEARNING ACTIVITY 4 – LET’S APPLY!
1. Cultural differences are often expressed in the “generation gap”. Choose one each from the list of symbols mentioned that you and your parents share and believe in (e.g. religion, education, and family values), as well as those that you disagree with (e.g music, clothing, and love relationships). How will you explain these differences based on the lesson? ➢ Many people don’t think about their family values until a crisis arises that forces them to make decisions that may go against their beliefs. While they may have never identified their values, all of sudden they are faced with realization that something doesn’t quite fit into what they believe in. this is when people realize how important family values are to the structure and operation of their family system.
2. Why do knowing about the cultural, social, political, economic symbols of
different groups or nationality important? ➢ Learning these things makes you better able to relate to your fellow citizens. Learn all you can about other people and you will be able to respect them and celebrate with them even if your practices and beliefs are different than theirs. That is the promise of western civilization. My own community, since you ask, is the united states and we had a major period of reckoning with our symbols and practices this year.
