Construction Process: Cellular Raft Foundation

PROCESS PICTURE SKETCHING


1. Clear the site from trees, bushes, debris and demolish the existing
chair and transport the waste out of site.

2. Setting out the site with 23000 mm length x 12300 mm width


building line and mark out the foundation line.

3. Excavate soil up to the required depth by using the excavator.


4. Level and compacting the soil to increase the soil load bearing
capacity by using the Hand Roller Compactor.

5. Blinding with lean concrete on the top of the surface of compacted


soil.

6. Cover the area of blinding with polythene sheet curing or


waterproofing membrane.
7. Lay reinforcement maintaining the required spacing using spacers.

8. Cut, bend and joint rebars together by using the 10mm diameter
steel rebar to form the reinforcement.

9. Setting up the timber formwork to be placed around the


foundation.
10. Pouring in the concrete to the desired depth of the foundation.

11. Level the concrete with straight edge, try to align the plane of the
foundation as much as possible.

12. Vibrating the concrete with a concrete vibrator and letting it cure


for a few days.
