Elizabeth 1558-1603
Elizabeth, the daughter of Henry VIII, by his second wife Anne Boleyn, came to the
throne at the age of 25. She became queen at a difficult time,for England was at war
with France, the treasury was empty and taxes were heavy. The two religious parties
were quarrelling severely. Besides, work was not available and there was a great deal
of poverty and Misery in England, Bands of thieves robbed travellers on the highways
and terrorized the countryside, forcing villages and small towns to feed them free.

‫ وكانت الخزانة‬،‫ حيث كانت إنجلترا في حالة حرب مع فرنسا‬،‫ أصبحت الملكة في وقت صعب‬.‫والعشرين‬

① One of the earliest objects of Elizabeth was peace with France.
②In religious matters she was forced to ally herself with the protestant party In
England, but she tried to keep a middle course as much as possible in order to
unite the English people within one church. The extreme Protestants and the
conservative Catholics would not agree to Elizabeth’s settlement.
③New Act of Supremacy declared the Queen to be Supreme Governors in all
matters, whether of religion or otherwise. Laws, for the relief of the poor were
enacted, so that the infirm or aged who could not earn a living were kept by the
parish where they lived.
④Elizabeth allowed about 100,000 protestant refugees from Holland and France
to settle in England and carry on their trades, papermaking, silk weaving. Elizabeth
insisted on each foreign settler taking and Teaching two English apprentices.
⑤She encouraged sea voyages to find new lands, This increased commerce but it
ushered in a new era of exploiting foreign lands and dominations weaker nations,
notoriously known as imperialism .
⑥Partly on commercial, partly on religious grounds, and was eventually engaged
in a life-and-death struggle with the greatest power in Europe. The Spanish
Armada, consisting of 134 ships and 30,000 Men, sailed against England in
1588,The English navy, numbering thirty six small ships with some additional
private vessels.
Spanish ships ever reached home, for many were wrecked by violent storms off
Scotland and Ireland. It also marked the final decline of Spain as the most powerful
country in Europe.
Elizabeth's reign was long, from 1558 to 1603.
 ⑦In her reign farming improved, trade and manufactures grew, the poor were
better looked after, there was more money and more food than ever before.

‫الملكة أليزابيث تولت العرش في وقت كانت إنكلترا تمر بأوقات صعبة‬
‫جدا لذلك كان عليها ان تصلح ماافسده والدها الملك هنري الثامن الذر كان ملك مستهتر مبذر لالموال وتزوج‬
‫وهذا امر غير ممكن في الكنيسة الكاثوليكية لذلك كان هناك صراع بين الملك هنري الثامن‬،‫ثالث نساء‬
‫ لكن ابته‬.‫كان الملك هنري ملك سئ حيث دمر البالد بالكامل النه كان مهتم فقط في تمتيع نفسه‬،‫والكنيسة‬
.‫الملكة اليزابيث كانت على العكس منه على الرغم من انها كانت شابة لكنها اعادة اعمار البالد‬

She is daughter of the King Henry Vlll (her father was bad king, he was wasting
money, he get marred of three women, their was a conflict between him and the
church?, because the church tell him the getting marred of three woman is
something not acceptable so this why he takes the money There of the church, he
said no papa).
Now his daughter Queen Elizabeth from the second wife (Anne Boleyn)
Anne Boleyn was have a relationship with the poet Thomas Wyatt .
Metaphysical Poetry:
Highly intellectualized poetry marked by bold and ingenious conceits, incongruous
imagery, complexity and subtlety of thought, frequent use of paradox, and often by
deliberate harshness or rigidity of expression.
What the characteristic of Metaphysical Poetry?
Metaphysical poetry talks about deep things. It talks about soul, love, religion, reality
etc. You can never be sure about what is coming your way while reading a
metaphysical poem. There can be unusual philosophies and comparisons that will
make you think and ponder.
The most important characteristics of metaphysical poetry is "undissociated
sensibility" (the combination of feeling and thoughts).
Elizabeth was only 25 years old when she become a Queen , she is still
resemble even though, she is a woman but she was better than her father (he
destroy England) but Queen Elizabeth reconstruction her country.

②There was civil wars? ?Because there was in England two church’s (Two
religious sects) -Protestant church. -Catholic church

There was many civil wars between Protestants and catholic ,Catholic was the
stronger sect not only in England, but in whole part of world. Protestant was
 the weakest sect, So they suffered persecution . But now Protestant is Most
sect in England

Why Protestant is the most sect in England ? ‫مهم‬

Because Protestant is more flexible (not unbigoted as catholic).

Why Queen Elizabeth want to stop the wars?

Because Irish people was killing after each other .

How she stops the wars?

She makes peace between catholic and Protestant Queen Elizabeth is from
catholic sect, she making Peace with Protestant .
Why many catholic rebellion against the Queen Elizabeth?
Because she make peace with Protestant, They rejected her policy.
-she open her country to Protestant refugees in another countries
Why there is migration form another countries to England?
Because she makes peace with Protestant and open her country to protestant
from another countries Why the Protestant come to England? ‫مهم‬
_because the Queen Elizabeth make peace between Protestant church and
catholic church.
She welcomed the refuges from another countries, but she have conditions (each
refuge must teaching two British people)

‫والبروتستانت( وكان الكاثوليك هم الفئة االقوى التي من‬،‫حيث كانت في انكلترا طائفتين )الكاثوليك‬،‫البروتستانتية‬
‫ وكان البروتستانت هم الفئة االضعف والتي تعاني من االضطهاد لذلك تمكنت الملكة من‬،‫ضمنهم الملكة اليزابيث‬
‫ وهذا جعل البروتستانت في كل دول العالم يهاجرون الى انكلترا للتخلص من‬.‫التوحيد والصلح بين الكنستين‬
‫ ولكن الملكة وضعت شروط الستقبال البروتستانت من الدول االخرى حيث اشترطت ان يعلم كل مهاجر‬.‫الظلم‬
‫المعلم يعلم اثنين‬،‫اثنين من البريطانين يعلمه اي شي هو بارع فيه مثال النجار يعلم اثنين من البريطانين النجارة‬
‫وهذه نفس ماعمل الرسول صلى هللا عليه وسلم في معركة بدر حيث‬،‫من البريطانين القراءة والكتابة وهكذا‬

than her father he destroy the country completely, because he loves women he

 Catholic church consider scientist as atheist (Someone who do not believe in God,

Before Copernicus people believe that the. Center of the universe is the earth ( this
means the moon the sun and all the other planets moving around the earth (the
earth axis of universe) but Nicolaus Copernicus says No this is wrong the Earth is
not the Centre of the universe (earth is moving around the sun and moon) .
The Copernicus he is the scientist who say that the earth is not the centre of the
universe the earth moving around the sun, and moon but that a theory not famous
until appearance someone he is called GALILO.

The Theory that say the earth moving around the sun and moon discover by
someone called ( Copernicus) , but it is not prove Scientifically until the coming
the another person he is called (GALILO)

‫ بهذه‬،‫ هو يعتقد ان ال وجود هلل( مانوا يعاملون العلم والعلماء‬،‫ويعتبرون العالم ملحد )الملحد هو ال يؤمن باهلل‬
‫الطريقة النهم يردون الناس فقط يسمعون ويطبقون ما تقوله الكنيسة ال يردون الطبقات المثقفة التي ممكن ان‬
‫واحد من العلماء الذين ظهروا في عهد الملكة أليزابيث هو)كوبرنيس(اذا اكاشف‬.‫تنتقدهم وتنقد سياستهم‬
‫حيث ان كان الناس قبل ظهور هذا العالم‬، ‫نظرية ان االرض تدور حول الشمس والقمر والكواكب االخرى‬
‫ولكن نظرية العالم‬،‫يعتقدون ان االرض هي مركز الكون وان الكواكب والشمس والقمر تدور حول االرض‬

①By its geographical position ,that close Greece, ancient Egypt and the Arab

Italy became a fertile soil for the revival of Classical heritage and the spread of
“New Learning". Among these factors, the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman
Turks In 1453.
*For many Greek scholars from Constantinople had begun to settle in Italy many
years before it fell to the Ottomans.. As Constantinople had many manuscripts of
Greek and Latin authors, who fled to Italy took many of these manuscripts with
them . All Italy welcomed these refugee scholars to France and England.

the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres (1543), that the earth is the centre of the
universe, and the sun, planets and stars revolve around it. Copernicus advocated
for the first time the belief that the earth and other planets move round the sun,
