A busy day in the life of a university student

1. My name is Marco. I am 34. I am a college student. I started my course a year ago when
I decided to become a teacher. Today, it is not easy to be a student. I also work in a company. But I
am happy because the teachers understand my situation and try to help me. In the morning, I wake
up at about 5 am. I take a shower and get ready for breakfast. I don’t live near my job, so I have to
ride a bike or take a motor taxi to work. When I arrive at work after a 10-minute ride, I open the
office and turn on the computer.

2. I have a meeting with my boss every morning. The first thing he does is to present the
agenda. Last week, for example, after he started the meeting, one of my colleagues arrived late and
interrupted him. He was very unhappy. Maria, my colleague, just apologized and sat with us. She
said that she was late because she came on foot. When the meeting started everybody was quiet.
The discussion was very comprehensive. We talked for many hours. It was a hot debate. The
secretary recorded everything in the notes. There were some important data about some problems
that we had to face. After the meeting, I walked back to my office.

3. At 12, it is lunch time. It is a more complicated and stressful time because I am very
hungry. After the last meeting, I wanted to eat lunch but I did not have money in my pocket. I
needed to go to the bank to get some money. There is a branch around the square. Some friends
wanted to talk to me. But I was in a hurry, so I pretended to be busy and late for an appointment.
It’s impossible to chat with friends at lunch time.

4. At the restaurant, I ordered some exquisite pasta and vegetables. After lunch there was a
lecture in the municipality library. The mayor and the governor were there. There was an expert
gynecologist talking about birth control. She decided to show a magazine with pictures of parents
smoking cigars. At the end of the lecture, she presented a summary. She said that those parents
smoking cigars in front of their children were actually notorious convicts.

5. After the lecture, I walked back home. When I arrived home, I turned on my computer to
attend my online classes. I studied for about 1 hour, and then I turned off the computer. I took a
shower. I had dinner with some relatives and then went to bed. It was a hard day.
