ENGLISH AS AN INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE

INTRODUCTION
English as an International Language. People often talk about English as a global
language. As we know that more than 350 million people around the world speaking English
as a first language and more than 430 million speaking it as a second language, there are
English speakers in most countries around the world. Therefore, why is English so popular,
though? And why has it become a global language?
Most multinational companies require a certain degree of English proficiency from
potential employees so in order to get a position with a top company, more and people or
students are learning English. A course in English as a foreign language which takes students to
an upper intermediate level of communicative competence. So that, they can improve their
language skills, boost both confidence and their Curiculum Vitae. Fresh graduate nursing
students who are learning English well and obtain good mark in English proficiency test for
example, will to communicate easier with patients in ward and colleagues in English.

Benefits of Learning English


English’s position as an international language makes it a common choice for
language learners. People all over the world commonly seek to learn the language. Their
motivation spans from a desire to travel to better employment potential. Though the reasons
are varied, there’s no doubt that there are a lot of people who continue to pick up English as
an international language today.
One of the most common reasons people learns English is to use it in the workplaces
and the colleges. Studies have shown that proficiency in a second language can make you 10-
15% more employable. An English as the “international language” is especially important for
communicating with international colleagues in sectors like business, science, workplaces
and the colleges.
People also learn English to make it easier for them to travel around the world. There
are over 50 countries in the world that claim English as a national language. Since airport and
road signs all over the world tend to include English, learning the language can open up many
different opportunities for travelers all over the world. Furthermore, with 55% of the

Internet’s content in English, some learners are motivated simply by wanting to experience
all that content in its original form.

SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE IN NURSING

The simple present says that something was true in the past, is true in the present and will
be true in the future. It is used for general statement of fact.
For example:

The simple present is used to express habitual or everyday activity. For example:

5. I go into the ward at 8:00 am. Moreover, I go out for lunch at 12.

When you write a sentence in simple present tense, certain verbs are not used in the
progressive tenses. With these verbs, the simple present may indicate a situation that exists
right now, at the moment of speaking. For example:

2. I don’t recognize that nurse.

3. He needs a pen right now to write nursing documentation.

We use the present simple to talk about states and situations that are always true. For

Simple present tesnse is giving instructions to a patient using the imperative. For
example:
