When I think back on my high school years in Bogota. I always remember my Italian
teacher. She was very strict; she was from Bucaramanga. When she came into the classroom,
we all had to stand up and say "Buongiorno signorina", and we couldn’t sit down until she
gave us permission, the very typical in Colombia. First, and as a routine, we had an activity
in which we practiced vocabulary from the previous class. Then, she took out some cards
with new vocabulary in order to practice pronunciation and spelling, but we were not allowed
to look up the words in the dictionary. Right after that, she always handed out some copies
of activities to “fiII in the blanks” so we could practice the new words. During this activity
we could work in small groups. I used to get together to work with the same classmates. I
used to think those classes were boring. I hated them. Now I have to thank my teacher because
I can speak some Italian. I work in an internacional hotel chain in Cartagena.

Stage 7: Reading

Read the text of Topic 10, underline the main idea of the reading (you can use Word or any
other tool), take a screenshot of this and publish this in the forum; then answer the
following questions:

1. What activities the students had to develop in the Italian class?

Answer: They had to practice what they saw in the previous class, such as vocabulary,
pronunciation, and spelling of new vocabulary with the teacher's flashcards. Later, they had
work with some copies in small groups.

2. What is the main idea of the text, write with your word? Explain with your own
words.

Answer:
the main idea for me is that, the memories that a person has about their Italian classes in
high school and how they were helpful in his future. Everything we learn would be
useful to us at some point in our lives.

Stage 8: Apply the phrasal verbs in a text.

Choose 7 phrasal verbs from the exercise of Topic 10 and Topic 11, and write a text where
you use them. You have to underline these phrasal verbs to distinguish them in the text.

The 2020 pandemic has taught us many things. I think I'm not the only person who has a hard time
getting up early and getting to work on time, and even getting home from work and studying, it
seemed to all of us that working or studying at home was a blessing. On Monday, November 23, I
was supposed to attend university and study with a colleague, but I called him and told him that I
was sick that I would stay home. I switched on my computer and logged in Netflix first thing in the
morning. Then I reminded myself that I needed to focus and quickly logged out. Since I was not
going to university, I called off suspended an exhibition that I had planned with my study partner
and texted my friend to tell him I was staying home. After that I managed to study a bit before my
friend called me back to tell me that it would be in half an hour to finish the circuit exposition of the
last class. I checked out through the content of the contribution for the job only to find that I hadn't
done anything. I realized that I would not have the opportunity to work with my friend again. My
friend showed up minutes later and we spent hours chatting over tea and sweets. I returned to the
university the next day, sure that I would never try to study and prepare an exhibition at home,
without assuming responsibilities and making excuses taking advantage of the current situation that
the world is going through.
