DEAR CHICAGO:
A year into the pandemic, we are seeing the
resilience of Chicago’s arts and cultural community.

Despite widespread closures in the arts,
our sector continues to find ways to bring joy,

be prioritized within COVID relief and recovery
funding. We were the first to close and we will
be the last to reopen. Chicago’s arts sector has
experienced over $4.7 billion in lost revenue and
over 86,000 lost jobs in the past year.
G
We ask the City of Chicago to invest $25 million
for COVID relief for Chicago’s artists and cultural
institutions. We ask that this funding be distributed
equitably, prioritizing artists and communities of

color. If we agree that the arts are critical to the
lifeblood of this great city’s vitality and its future,
we also need to agree to invest public resources
to support this work.

At trick four, the Magician led his spade to dummy’s

The Magician finished down two in this contract. He had
