WASTEWATER RECYCLING
WHAT IS WWR?
How to purify and reuse water for
other uses, such as agricultural
irrigation or industrial process.
Recycled wastewater can be used
as toilets flush and for gardening
purposes.
SOURCES OF WASTEWATER
Wastewater from normal
living areas

Domestic Wastewater

WWR TECHNOLOGY AND SYSTEM
● Biological fixed-film treatment process used in the secondary
treatment of wastewater following primary treatment
01 Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC)
● RBC process allows the wastewater to come in contact with a
biological film in order to remove pollutants in the wastewater

● Large circular basin equipped with aerators that are used to remove
02 Oxidation Ditch organic matter and pollutants from sewage through the processes of
absorption, oxidation, and decomposition

● These systems use aerators to mix the contents of the pond and

03 Aerated Lagoon

add oxygen to the wastewater.
Aeration makes treatment more efficient, which offsets energy
costs in some cases.

● Modification of the activated sludge process which provides

04 Extended Aeration System

biological treatment for the removal of biodegradable wastes.
Oxygen by air aeration required to sustain the aerobic biological
process
● Aan aerobic treatment system that utilizes microorganisms

05 High Rate Trickling System (HRTS)

attached to a medium to remove organic matter
from wastewater
ADVANTAGES AND BENEFITS OF WWR
Improving sustainability
A process that is sustainable and environmental friendly

- Cost effective
- should try to use less water, an effective and sustainable method is to treat the wastewater we
produce.
- Have economic, environmental and social components
-
Lower Pollution Risks
- Untreated wastewater does not naturally decompose
- Recycling wastewater is the only way to avoid future water shortages and decrease the damage
water pollution is doing to the environment..

Lower Operation Costs

- Much more affordable than using freshwater
- Demand for new water sources will also decrease, as treated wastewater will be more readily
available
- Implementing wastewater reuse strategies makes it easier for you to avoid costly fees associated
with non-compliance with stringent wastewater discharge regulations
CHALLENGES AND BARRIER OF WWR
1. Smelly
- The treatment must always be maintained correctly
- Must control level of ammonia gas from expose
2. Space
- Requires to have wide space to position the plant and for the treated
water
- Requires strategic area away from residential and public areas
3. High annual maintenance and energy to operate (air compressor, turbine)
required
