SOLAR ENERGY IN PAKISTAN

By

UMER AMIN

The energy that we get from the sun is called solar energy. Sun is the main source of energy.
This energy is pollution free and we use it for different purpose now the point is how this
energy is pollution free because this is no harmful gases, chemicals is produced. This energy
is pollution free. This is the energy from the sun that is converted into thermal or electrical
energy by the help of photovoltaic cell. Day by Day the demand of electrical energy is
increase not only in Pakistan but in all over the world. Moreover, there is no cut in energy
even in cloudy or in rainy weather and we also know about this energy is environmentally
friendly. Pakistan also has highest potential regarding renewable energy resources i.e., solar
energy, wind energy, geothermal energy Biomass etc. In Pakistan usually energy generated
from hydropower plant is not enough to meet our energy demand so that we go for renewable
resources. Pakistan has great insolation in the world about seven to nine sun shine a day ideal
climate condition for solar energy. Pakistan has a lot of potential for solar and wind energy
generation. According to the World Bank, Pakistan's current electricity demand could be met
by using only 0.071 percent of the country's land for solar photovoltaic (solar PV) power
output. Solar and wind power should be urgently expanded to at least 30 percent of
Pakistan’s total electricity generation capacity by 2030, equivalent to around 24,000
Megawatts. The installed power generation capacity in Pakistan reached 37,402 MW in
2020, according to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2019–20.The purpose of this Aarticle is to
determine which renewable energy choice is best for Pakistan. For this, we gathered sun
radiation data for a year in four major Pakistani cities. In Pakistan solar power plants are in
Kashmir Punjab Sindh Baluchistan

Pakistan's energy demand is growing at a rate of more than 9% per year. Pakistan's energy
demand is anticipated to increase eightfold by 2030 and twentyfold by 2050 .The
fundamental cause of Pakistan's energy problems is that the country's energy system is
mostly reliant on thermal resources such as coal, oil, and natural gas, which are both
expensive and in short supply.Furthermore, renewable energy sources only meet 0.3 percent
of the country's energy needs, which is not sufficient. solar energy has the potential to bear
all these challenges. Solar energy is a cheap source of energy it overcome the problem of
depleting fuel, and the basic advantage is solar is environmentally friendly. solar is providing
us a new way of generating energy that is store in the batteries. The AEDB is pursuing 22
solar PV power projects with a total capacity of 890 MW generation. The total power
capacity from Quaid-e-Azam solar is 400MW.Harapha solar Sahiwal generate 18MW power.
Four IPPs with a total capacity of 41.80 MW have received a Letter of Support (LOS) from
AEDB and are working to close their projects financially. Twelve solar PV power projects
with a total capacity of 419 MW have received letters of intent from the AEDB and are in
various stages of development. By 2017, the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Park (QASP) in
Punjab's Choli stan Desert would have a 1 GW capacity. A facility of this scale could power
around 320,000 dwellings.

first on-grid solar PV project to use net-metering, allowing recipients to sell excess electricity
to the Islamabad Electric Supply Firm the Islamabad Division's electricity distribution
company. The project was carried out using grant funding totaling 553.63 million Pakistani
rupees over a three-year period beginning in 2010.The AEDB is pursuing 22 solar PV power
projects with a total capacity of 890.80 MW.

On May 29, 2012, Pakistan's first solar power on-grid power facility was inaugurated in
Islamabad. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is undertaking a one-of-a-
kind grant aid initiative called "Introduction of Clean Energy via Solar Electricity Generation
System" as part of the Coolio Earth Partnership. This project includes the installation of two
178kW photovoltaic (PV) systems at the Pakistan Engineering Council and the Planning
Commission.

The purpose of this article is prediction of solar energy that how this energy increases our
profit and meet our load demand at certain extent. Due to increase in population of Pakistan
day by day the other resources in not enough to meet our load demand that’s why we go for
renewable resources due to some merits. due to low maintenance cost, the basic advantage to
solar is it reduce our electricity bills. Solar energy can also be incorporated into the building
components. Sharp just released transparent solar energy windows. Moreover, there is also
demerits of solar which includes fairly high initial costs means for purchasing components
cost. Also, weather dependency, also solar plates occupy a lot of space so for this purpose we
reserve some part of our roof or other place is specially for solar.in short we can say that with
the installation of solar panel we can meet our load demand at maximum extend also we
solve our loadshedding problem with help of installation of solar At last we can say that we
save a lot of money and can give extra energy to the grid. The solar power industry's
technology is always improving, and this trend will continue in the future. Quantum physics
and nanotechnology advancements have the potential to improve the efficiency of solar
panels and double, if not triple, the electrical input of solar power systems. There is also no
wear and tear because there are no moving parts. Because it is always working to convert
solar energy into electricity and heat, the inverter is usually the only part that needs to be
replaced after 5-10 years (solar PV vs. solar thermal). Apart from the inverter, your solar
power system's wires must be maintained to ensure maximum efficiency.
