INTRODUCTION TO
TEST
ITEM ANALYSIS
Prepared by: AGANA, ANGELA CRISTINE JOY
Good day everyone! I am Angela Cristine Joy Agana

from BEED 3. Here's to read my portfolio. This is all

about my reflections about the module 7. This
modules covers the concept, principles involve in
analyzing test items which we can call the item
analysis. I hope that you will enjoy reading this.
Thank you!
OBJECTIVES
At the end of every lesson, I should be
able to:
• Increase understanding of item analysis and provide firsthand

experience in calculation of Mean, Median and Mode;

• Acquire an idea on how to improve the test by revising or discarding
ineffective items based on scores analyzed;
• Explore the validity of an item forpredicting the particular external
criterion measure such as the Mean, Median and Mode
• Grasp the idea in determining the percentage of test takers who passed
each item and the correlation of each item with some criterion.
ACTIVITY 7.1
Compute for Mean,
Median, Mode and
Range
Directions: Given the formulas and sample
computation above do this exercise in
computing for Mean, Median, Mode and
Range.

Here are the raw scores:

11, 19, 11, 15, 17, 14, 18, 13, 11
ANSWER FOR ANSWER FOR
THE MEAN MEDIAN
11, 11, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19
Solution: 9+1 10
Given Data: 2 2
11, 19, 11, 15, 17, 14, 18, 13, 11

=5
MEAN = 11, 19, 11, 15, 17, 14, 18, 13, 11

9 = 5th number

= 14.33
Hence, the median is 14
ANSWER FOR ANSWER FOR
THE MODE THE RANGE

The largest value in the given

The mode is the number that is
data is 19, and the smallest is
repeated more often than any
11, therefore, the range is
other, therefore, 11 is the mode.
19 – 11 = 8
OVERALL
ANSWERS
Mean = 14.33
Median = 14
Mode = 11
Range = 8
MY FEEDBACK
COMMENT

This module that I read will help me to for my future as a

teacher to become aware on how item analysis is important
for me and for my students. Item analysis will examines the
learners responses to individual test items to assess the
quality of those items and test as a whole.

REFLECTION

learned that the item analysis is the act of analyzing learners

responses to individual exam questions with the intention of
evaluating exam quality. It is an important tool to uphold test
effectiveness and fairness.
