RESEARCH FORM 01
ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Research ethics is the application of moral standards and professional codes of behavior to the
collecting, analysis, reporting, and publication of data concerning research subjects, with a
particular focus on active acceptance of individuals' rights to privacy, confidentiality, and
informed consent (research ethics | Encyclopedia.com, 2019). The researchers are aware of the
critical nature of ethical considerations in the study. The following is critical:
Supporting research objectives such as knowledge, truth, and error avoidance
Assuring researchers' accountability
Assisting in the growth of public support for research
Encouraging collaborative work principles such as integrity, trust, fairness, and mutual
respect
Additionally, and most importantly, enabling a range of critical moral and social concepts, such
as human rights, legal compliance, social responsibility, public health and safety, and animal
welfare.
The researchers will send the informed consent to the participants and will assure them that it
will be secured and protected. One of the foundational concepts of research ethics is informed
consent. Its goal is for human subjects to enter studies freely or voluntarily after receiving
complete information about what it entails for them to participate and giving their agreement
before doing so (University of Oxford, 2019). Thus, research participants will be educated and
aware of their rights— the right to accept or reject the researchers' requests and withdraw.
Consent should be asked before a person (potentially) enters the research, and there should be
no excessive pressure on people to approve. The participant must comprehend the study and
consent as a basic need for informed consent (University of Oxford, 2019). That is why the
researchers would send the informed consent to the participants beforehand. Also, the
researchers will proactively address the individuals' concerns and inquiries.
The researchers must protect human subjects for the participants' safety and security, which
means they must be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Their safety is paramount, especially
during a pandemic. So, the researchers will deliver the survey questionnaires online, specifically
via Facebook Messenger. Without the respondent's consent to data dissemination, no
information that reveals their identity will be disseminated or published. Finally, after data
processing, the researchers would manually shred the raw data collected from the materials.
Respect for people's rights, dignity, diversity, and social responsibility guides the university's
professional responsibilities and behavior for education researchers.
