SUSE Technical Training and Certification
 SUSE Certification Philosophy

When there is an industry-standard lower level certification/exam

that can be based on a SUSE-specific platform, we will propose
using that as our Administrator level.

Wherever possible, we will strive to use practical-based exams as

a method of proving a candidate’s qualifications on SUSE products
and services.
 SUSE Certification Framework

● SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA)

○ Administrator-level, practicum-based or forms-based exams

● SUSE Certified Engineer (SCE)

○ Professional/Engineer-level, practicum-based exams

● SUSE Enterprise Architect (SEA)

○ An “earned” certification, tick enough boxes, automatic
○ 3 Admin exams, 2 Engineer exams + 1 from any stack = SEA
 Exam Qualification Prerequisites

To qualify for a SCE exam you must have N-1 or higher prerequisite
certifications.
 SUSE Certification Partnerships

● OpenStack COA
○ SUSE uses the OpenStack Foundation COA as one of
the exams for our SCA in OpenStack Cloud

● Level Up Agreement
○ Coming in Q3, allows other certification holders to take
the SCE directly (see next slide)

HPE SUSE Linux 12 Certification Initiative
HPE SUSE Linux 12 Academy Participation and Exam Request Status

Program to Drive Completions and SUSE OpenStack Cloud Academy Enrollment:

● If you have a CLA 11 or CLP 11 certification and you want to attempt the SUSE Linux 12 SCE certification, we will
offer you an SCE 12 exam eCredit to update your SUSE certification

● If you have requested an SCA 12 exam eCredit and have not redeemed it yet - Schedule exam by November 1, 2016

● If you have participated in a SUSE Linux 12 Academy, you will be the first to be invited to our SUSE OpenStack Cloud
Academies (starting 2H 2016) - Make sure you have added your contact information to the HPE Accelerating U portal
to receive enrollment information from your Global Learning Solutions Manager when enrollment opens.
