Scene
Manish (to himself): I am so glad I could come early today to work. It is just 7:20 in the
morning. I can now do all the pending work that has been piling up on my desk.
I can’t take any action on this email until Smitha arrives and gives me the background.
Will look into it later. (starts reading the next email)
Hey, I can use this information for my project that’s coming up next month. Let me make
a copy of this document. (walks up to the photo copying machine and makes a copy. On
the way back sees the newspaper lying on the sofa and starts reading)
(2 colleagues walk in together and Manish sees them enter, looks at his watch)
Manish (to himself): Oh my god! It is already 9:00 AM. I need to finish the editing of
the content for submission tomorrow and there is so much left to do still. I better get
started.
(Gets up and goes to his desk and starts work. After a few seconds, Vijay comes to
Manish’s desk)
Vijay: Hi Manish! Have not spoken to you for a while. Let’s have a cup of coffee!
Manish: Hey!! I did not realize how time went by. We have been talking for more than
half an hour. I had better get back now.
(Phone rings as Manish nears his desk. He picks up the call and finds that it is Mr.
Dhaval, his manager)
Mr. Dhaval (on the phone): Hi Manish! There’s a meeting at 10 AM which I was
supposed to attend. But I need to go elsewhere. Is it possible for you to attend the same
instead of me and take notes? If not, I can ask Sushma to do so instead.
Mr. Dhaval (on the phone): The meeting may go on for about 2 hours. Thanks!
Manish (to himself): I will start on the project once I finish lunch. No time right now.
Manish (to himself in an irritated tone): Mr. Dhaval now wants the minutes of the
meeting. It was so long and boring. Should not have accepted to go for him. When will I
finish my project work? Looks like I have to stay back in office today till 9 PM at least.
(Narrator - The afternoon wasn’t any better. A few visitors, a few phone calls, a
couple of letters and the day was over.)
Manish (to himself in a tired tone): It is nearly 10 in the night. My wife is going to
throw a tantrum again. How does Vijay manage to go for movies in the night???
(End of scene)
