BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Since the initial transmission of the COVID-19 our country is facing a really hard situation
that even some of the students are requesting an academic freeze. According to them there
are many hindrances in learning that the students may face like the temptation of social
media, online games, noise, etc. Last August 1, 2020 started the first day of online class in Bicol
University where many students are struggling to cope up in the new normal where face to face
classes were not allowed. Since the Philippines is one of the 100 poorest country in the world.
Since the country is not yet ready for this kind of new mode of learning and not all students are
able to access Wi-Fi’s, mobile phones, laptops and computer’s this can affect the
effectivity of online learning among BEED 1-4 students.

According to Shu-Sheng Liaw “in the research study on effectiveness of e-

learning investigates the reason for dissatisfaction of some of the e-learning students.
“According to a site education week “In the online setting, students may have more
distractions and less oversight, which can reduce their motivation.” Says Tuan Nguyen from
Kansas State University, according to him “Taken as a whole, there is robust
evidence to suggest online learning is generally at least as effective as the traditional format.”
Those studies say that the effectiveness of learning may became less effective due to some
circumstances that may affect the learning and concentration of the students.
