For your first discussion board assignment, complete the following 3 steps:

1. In 100 words or so, introduce yourself to the group. Feel free to include your
major, background, interests, and hobbies. Think of this as your first day of class,
and get to know each other!
2. In 150-200 words, indicate what you hope to get out of this course. How will you
use what you learn from this class in future classes or in your career?
3. In 100-150 words each, provide a response post to at least 2 of your classmates'
initial posts. In your response posts, you should always seek to ask questions of
your classmates to help incite further discussion.
Your initial post is due Thursday (by end of day), and your 2 response posts are
due Sunday (also by end of day). Your Week 1 discussion board assignment is worth
10 points.

Hello, my name is Cheyanne Grumm. My major is IST with a dual minor in SRA and Criminal Justice and
also I am a junior here at Penn State Abington. I live in Willow Grove which is pretty close to campus and
is nice when in person classes are a thing and I am very familiar with the area. Some hobbies and
interest I have are playing lacrosse as I am the Women’s Lacrosse Goalie here, hanging out with friends,
going shopping, exploring nature and going on random adventures with family and friends, going to the
beach for day trips.

Throughout this course I would like to better my skill which could help in the career of my choice. I also
hope I could put the skills I learn from this class on my resume. I never really enjoyed writing because it
was always for an English paper about a boring book so maybe this course would help be enjoy writing
more. In the future I will use this course to find a job and having to write step by step instructions of
what you are doing so someone who has never seen the project before can understand it.

Hi Evan, nice to meet you. Engineering Nanotechnology has to be an interesting major and different
than a lot of the ones I usually hear about. I’ve always thought parkour and material arts was interesting
but nothing I would ever want to. I’m kind of curious about how you got into those hobbies especially
parkour because it’s not something everyone does.

Hi Patrick, nice to meet you. I am a junior as well and started off very similar as you did, with changing
major. I was originally going for a criminal justice major but switched to IST. What is your favorite hockey
team to watch?

Writing is definitely an important skill to have when it comes to your future job and trying not to look
bad. I can relate to your writing skill very much because I’m in the same boat as you with no experience
in writing about math or science
