1.1 Safety
Requirement for For proper safe operation of the equipment it must be transported and stored
safe operation properly, installed and commissioned by an expert, used as intended and
maintained carefully.
Qualification of All installation and maintenance work on the equipment must be performed by
personnel specialist staff who are familiar with comparable equipment and have the
qualifications required for such activities.
National rules The orders, standards and directives mentioned in these operating instructions
apply in the European Community and in the Federal Republic of Germany. If
the equipment is used in other countries, the relevant national rules must be
observed.
Safety of the The equipment has been built and tested in accordance with DIN EN
equipment and safe 61010/IEC 1010 "Safety provisions for electrical measuring, control, regulating
operation and laboratory devices" and left the factory in a perfect state in terms of
technical safety.
To maintain this state and ensure safe operation the safety notes
marked in these operating instructions with the symbol must be
observed. Failure to observe these notes could put persons at risk and damage
both the equipment itself and other systems and facilities.
Further information If the information contained in these operating instructions is insufficient in any
event, the specialist staff of Walter Herzog GmbH will be happy to help you
with further information.
1.2 Care
Clean the equipment with a damp cloth. If heavily soiled, please use a mild
detergent (do not use solvents, scouring agents or aggressive cleaning agents).
The unit has built in an electronic power controller (phase control), which can
be adjusted by a potentiometer.

The following components are included in the scope of supply of Triac Power
Control
Set up the Triac Power Controller HPC 930 on a steady laboratory table keeping
sufficient distance to the other instruments.
Connecting to the Before connecting the unit to the mains, consult the rating plate at the back of
mains the instrument.
Use the provided power cord and plug it first in the socket at the instrument and
then to the mains supply in the laboratory.
Chapter 4 Operation
4.1 Preparations
Compare the mains voltage of the laboratory with the rate given on the
rating plate
Switch the mains switch off
Turn the adjusting knob to the left to the minimum heating capacity
Connect the unit with the mains by means of the provided mains cord
Connect the consuming unit (heating) to the shock-proof plug at the
back
4.2 Operation
Chapter 5 Maintenance/Calibration
When a malfunction arises (no heating capacity) first check the two fuses at the
back of the instrument and replace them, if necessary. The fuse details for the
referring nominal supply voltage can be found under chapter 2.3 - Technical
Data.
Before switching the power controller on again, set the adjusting knob to the
left.
Attention! Unplug the instrument from the mains before exchanging the
fuses!
If the instrument does not function well after the fuses have been exchanged, the
malfunction may be caused by a defective Triac. The Triac should only be
exchanged by authorized and trained staff or a service technician. If necessary,
send the unit to the responsible service.

Kapitel 1 Allgemeines
1.1 Sicherheitshinweise
Voraussetzung für Der einwandfreie und sichere Betrieb des Gerätes setzt voraus, dass es
den sichern Betrieb sachgemäß transportiert und gelagert , fachgerecht installiert und in Betrieb
genommen sowie bestimmungsgemäß bedient und sorgfältig instandgehalten
wird.
Qualifikation des Installations- und Wartungsarbeiten am Gerät dürfen nur von Fachleuten
Personals durchgeführt werden, die mit vergleichbaren Geräten vertraut sind und über die
für ihre Tätigkeit erforderliche Qualifikation verfügen.
Sicherheit des
Gerätes und gefahr- Das Gerät wurde gemäß der DIN EN 61010/IEC 1010
loser Betrieb “Sicherheitsbestimmungen für elektrische Mess-, Steuerungs-, Regel- und
Laboreinrichtungen” gebaut und getestet und hat die Firma in
sicherheitstechnisch einwandfreiem Zustand verlassen.
Um diesen Zustand zu erhalten und einen gefahrlosen Betrieb
sicherzustellen, müssen die mit dem Zeichen gekennzeichneten
Sicherheitshinweise in dieser Betriebsanleitung beachtet werden. Bei
Nichtbeachtung dieser Hinweise können Personen gefährdet und das Gerät
sowie andere Systeme und Einrichtungen beschädigt werden.
1.2 Pflege
Das Gerät mit einem feuchten Tuch reinigen. Bei starker Verschmutzung ein
mildes Reinigungsmittel verwenden (keine Lösungsmittel, Scheuermittel oder
aggressive Reinigungsmittel.

3.2 Aufstellung
Netzanschluss Das Gerät darf nur mit der auf dem Leistungsschild angegebenen Spannung
betrieben werden. Das Leistungsschild finden Sie auf der Rückseite des Gerätes.
Das mitgelieferte Netzkabel ist zuerst mit dem Gerät und dann mit der
Stromversorgung des Labors verbinden.

4.1 Vorbereitungen
Kapitel 5 Wartung/Kalibrierung
Bei Auftreten einer Störung (keine Heizleistung) sind zuerst die beiden
Sicherungen auf der Rückseite des Gerätes zu prüfen und gegebenenfalls durch
Neue zu ersetzen. Die Sicherungswerte für die jeweilige Netznennspannung
entnehmen Sie bitte den Angaben unter Kapitel 2.3 - Technische Daten.
Vor dem erneuten einschalten sollte der Heizleistungsregler auf Linksanschlag
gestellt werden.
Sollte das Gerät nach Austausch der Sicherungen nicht Betriebsbereit sein, so ist
evtl. Der Triac beschädigt. Das wechseln des Triac´s darf nur durch autorisiertes
Fachpersonal oder einen Servicetechniker durchgeführt werden oder senden Sie
das Gerät an den für Sie zuständigen Service.
