COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course deals with the salient provisions and application of the Civil Code on
Obligations and Contracts. It involves discussion of the nature, sources, kinds, and
extinguishment of obligations, the requisites, kinds and types of contracts including defective
and void contracts.

COURSE GOALS: Expected College of Arts and Sciences Graduate Attributes (ECGAs)

Align with the vision-mission of San Beda University, BS Legal Management has
adopted the following attributes that the students are expected to possess.

1. Bedan Legal Management graduates are able to apply legal and management
principles, theories, and methods to various types of organizations;
2. Bedan Legal Management graduates are capable of analyzing, evaluating, and
solving problems critically using legal and management tools and techniques;
3. Bedan Legal Management graduates can use interpersonal communication skills
effectively;
4. Bedan Legal Management graduates are cable to seek employment and facilitate the

standards and corporate social responsibility; and

LEARNING OBJECTIVES/OUTCOMES (LOs):

At the end of this course, the students should be able to achieve the following:

1. Understand the general principles of obligations and contracts under the Civil Code
of the Philippines.
2. Identify and explain the relevance and application of the legal concepts of obligations
and contracts to commercial and business transactions.
3. Evaluate and relate the provisions on obligations and contracts under the Civil Code
of the Philippines with other relevant business laws and jurisprudences.
4. Determine the legal issues on case problems involving obligations and contracts, and
ascertain the applicable legal doctrines and jurisprudences.

5. Draft different kinds of contracts and identify defective ones.
6. Incorporate the Benedictine values and ideals in learning the basic skills in law and in
the undertaking commercial and business transactions.
