Unit 5 : Transportation
Topic Title : Going Places
Time Frame: 2 days
I. OBJECTIVES
General
Demonstrate understanding of the concepts of force and motion as applied to land
transport and air/sea transport.
Specific
1. Identify the common transportation in the community.
2. Interpret data in tabular form.
3. Discuss the transportation related problems in the community.
A. Review/Motivation
1. Show pictures of different transport vehicles e.g. bicycle, jeepney, bus,
train, ship and airplane.
Pose this question: What do these objects have in common?
Which of these vehicles are available in our community and commonly
use? We’ll answer this question in today’s lesson.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Divide the class into 5 groups.
2 2. Ask each group to copy Table 5.1. Four groups will list of the different
types of vehicles (land, sea or air) in the community on Table 5.1. Let them
conduct a quick survey among themselves on the type of vehicles often use,
sometimes, rarely or never. Instruct the groups to count how many of them
often use a particular vehicle e.g. tricycle.
4. Assign the last group to consolidate the data of the four groups and write the
consolidated data on the board .
C. Discussion
1. Which is the most commonly used type of vehicle in your community?
Which is the least used?
2. What are the impacts of transportation in the community?
3. What are the transportation related problems of the community? Cite ways of
solving these problems.
D. Generalization
D 1. State the different types of transportation.
IV. ASSESSMENT
What is the best means of transportation in our community? Support your answer.
