Table 1 reveals the top companies who have earned highest ESG Rating. These company are
most from India, and few from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Among to the
1106 listed firms in data presented the Mahindra & Mahindra Limited from India got highest
ESG Rating with 77.9 in the industry of Automobile, closer to the Mahindra is the Telekom
Malaysia Berhad of Malaysia in the industry of Telecommunications with ESG Rating of 77.7.
Following those two companies are the companies in the area of Software and IT services, Food
& Tobacco, Chemicals, Oil & Gas Related, and others as shown in the table 1. While the
companies who earned low ESG Rating are the companies from Turkey and most are from
Taiwan, Republic of Chinà. The Emlak Konut Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortak AS from Turkey
earned the lowest score with 18.7 ESG rating , followed by Formosa Plastics Corporation,
Highwealth Construction Corp, and Evergreen International Storage & Transport with ESG
rating of 19.7, 20.1 and 20.7 respectively these three companies are both from Taiwan, Republic
of China which rounds in the industry of Chemicals, Real Estate as well as Marine Services. On
the other hand, when it comes to ESG per country among to the Asian firms listed Jordan got the
highest ESG rating but Jordan only listed 1 firm that it not average than other countries, followed
by Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia and India with average ESG rating of 51.5, 50.576, 49.62 and
48.72 respectively rating is now very important to every business organization because investors
starting 5o consider this non financial aspect of organization. Investors are increasingly using
environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria to analyze organizations in which they
might want to invest. ESG criteria are being used by a growing number of mutual funds,
brokerage firms, and robo-advisors. Investors can also use ESG criteria to avoid companies that
may offer a higher financial risk owing to their environmental or other policies. These were
computed based on the average score of corporate governance rating, environmental rating and
lastly the social rating.
