- Filipino writer ,writing in the Iloco and Filipino languages

- Award winning fictionist and poet, also works as a translator

- He is a member of Gumil Filipinas and he is a native Mabasa, Dupax Del Norte, Nueva Ecija.

- Published most of his short stories, poem and Feature articles in Banuag.

Focus of narration

The narrator of the short story focuse on the life of an insane man named, INDONG. The short story
highlighted the events happened in the life of the insane character on how he face his past and how did
he went to "Bayan ng sili" and how did he become an insane man.

Subject matter and theme

The theme of the short story is the faith of life because as I analyzed the story, I saw how the characters,
particularly Indong Kagit face his faith. This short story showed us that all of us has a fate in life. Some
of us are lucky, some are not. Some people can finish their school, some are not, Some people can eat
regularly, some people don't have anything to eat. Some are lucky to be born in a rich family, some are
born in a poor family Just like in the story. But as Indong believes, all of us are a child of God no matter
what our destiny in life, we are all considered his children. Our faith may not be as good as the faith of
others, but it matters to the almighty.

Traditions

Pakikibaka - Tayong mga pilipino ay mahilig makibaka lalo na kung may ipinaglalaban tayo. Kagaya sa
kwento, ipinakita kung paano nakibaka ang mga pangunahing tauhan upang repormahin ang sistema sa
using paaralan.

Mataas na ambisyon - Tayong mga pilipino ay maraming pangarap sa buhay tulad ng pagnanais na
yumaman at makaangat sa buhay. Kagaya na lamang ng pangarap ni Indong Kagit.

Paniniwala - kagaya ni Indong, ano man ang ang kanyang pinagdaanang hirap sa buhay, hindi parin
nawawala ang kaniyang paniniwala sa Diyos. Naniniwala sya na tayo ay anak ng Diyos.
Summary of the story

The trend story began to pay attention and aroused the curiosity of Emman, a student writer who
moved to bayan ng Sili where she often noticed a man named Ingdong Kagit, and was considered crazy
by people who often avoided him because of his foul smell and dirty clothes. His interest in the elderly
increased when there was a rally at their university, where Ingdong Kagit joined. Emman couldn't help
but ask questions about his life and explained that he was a former farmer who lost his appetite for life
because his son and husband died, became a homeless man by an Italian priest and one day ended up in
the Town of Sili because of shelter. his cargo vehicle. Emman lost focus on Ingdong Kagit again when the
rally ended, a typhoon passed through the Town of Sili and he saw Ingdong Kagit challenging the raging
waves. The time passed quickly when Emman was just happy to hand over coins, food and old clothes to
Indong kagit, but one day he saw it was bloody and the crowd was looking at it, the guard shot him
because he was trying to steal food, and it told him that though he was crazy man, he was also hungry,
as he devoured the bloody food which had not been consumed. Emman left the body of the crazy man,
while asking why, and when he saw the old man's eyes, he knew the answer why.

Literary devices:

Flashback

- In the story, an old crazy man remembered his past on how he suffered and about his dreams that he
didn't achieve.

Character Delineation:

The whole story focused on the life of the main characters namely Indong Kagit and Eman. But in some
part of the story, Indong Kagit mentioned his wife Cristina and his son Marcial.

Indong Kagit - He is the so called "ang baliw ng bayan ng sili". His real name is Frediswindo Manlangit,
he has a sorrowful past and a fascinating perception in life.

Emman - He served as the narrator of this short story. He is a college student who was hooked to know
more the insane man, Indong Kagit.

Other characters in the story : Cristina and Marcial.

Cristina - She is the wife of Indong kagit. She has an affair to a rich haciendero. According to what
Indong Kagit said, she took her own life because of so much guilt she felt.

Marcial - He is the only son of Indong Kaget. Accordingly, he joined the insurgents and decided to live in
mountain with them. But eventually, he died during their encounter with the army.

Stages of conflict:
Exposition - Arousing the attention of the character Eman to recognize the so - called "baliw nh bayan
ng sili", Indong Kagit.

Rising actions

- The rally that took place at Eman's university opened the door for him to talk to the old madman
because he joined the strike.

- A very strong typhoon hit the town of Sili. And at that time the paths of Eman and Indong Kagit met
again. They had in-depth conversations about the old madman's encounter with the waves of the sea
water during the height of the storm and about his complicated past.
