PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
My role is to enhance access to international and in particular regional markets in order to expand
Pakistan’s regional economic integration. It also involves to ignite interest amongst the private sector to
explore potential trade and investment between Pakistan and Regional Markets by organizing trade
promotion and investment activities including exclusive Pakistan specific trade and investment
forums/exhibitions, single country trade expo, stakeholder discussion and conferences, development of
value chains and research geared towards promotion of regional and international trade and investment
from Pakistan. Essential responsibilities also include leading component activities pertaining to regional
economic integration in design, business enabling environment, value chain assessment and
development, public private partnership for trade facilitation, resource mobilization, lessons learnt and
outcomes achieved. I have hands on experience of managing international trade promotion and
investment related forums in Central Asian Republics (CARs) (especially Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and
Turkmenistan) and Afghanistan.
Strategic Management, Value Chain & Trade Development Consultant Jan 16 ~ Jan 17
A Strategic Management, Value Chain and International Trade Development specialist and have
professional experience of working with major donors including USAID, DFID, United Nations, Foreign
& Commonwealth Office, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and INGOs & country experience in
Pakistan and Jordan. I have worked/working on the following projects:
1) Regional Trade Promotion Advisor on USAID’s Pakistan Regional Economic Integration Activity
(PREIA), implemented by DAI. PREIA supports Pakistan’s trade sector by improving the country’s
competitiveness and increase the access in international and regional markets in order to enhance
Pakistan’s regional economic integration with Central Asian Republics (CARs) including Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan; and between Pakistan and Afghanistan. My
area of focus is primarily on trade promotion and facilitation, thereby improving the international trade
environment, resulting in increased trade and transit volumes from Pakistan. I was technical lead on
the following trade promotion activities:
a. “Pakistan Tajikistan Business Forum 2017” in Dushanbe, Tajikistan
b. “Made in Pakistan” – a single country trade expo in Almaty, Kazakhstan;
c. “Cold Chain Expo”, Almaty, Kazakhstan – November 2016;
2) Served as a ‘Judge’ to review grants proposals under ‘Young Women Transform Prize’. Making
Cents International (Making Cents) under the USAID funded contract YouthPower Learning is
implementing the project to further assess, evaluate, document and disseminate innovative work in
positive youth development and cross-sectoral youth programming ( http://www.youthpower.org/).
The grant aims to support the development and implementation of activities with the potential to
broaden young women’s access to, and choice over, employment and economic security, with a
focus on collecting and disseminating learning. The grants also aims to recognize innovative
strategies that have improved young women’s economic opportunities, and collect and share learning
from that innovation.
3) Action-oriented Research Pilots of Drivers of Economic Stability by Mercy Corps, Europe. The
consultancy has the following research focused:
a. Types of economic instability and how they manifest as drivers of conflict;
b. Interventions to address economic sources of instability (for example livelihoods investments,
economic opportunities, etc.);
c. Access to renewable energy as mitigation against conflict.
The outcome of research is to invest in small-scale pilot initiatives of activities that show high potential for
addressing drivers of conflict or building social capital and enhancing stability and cohesion in
communities. The pilots were in areas of job creation through support to existing businesses and/or
supporting entrepreneurship through different models/approaches, to support renewable energy and
affordable housing through the expansion of infrastructure (roads, water, electric).
5) SUN Business Network Consultant with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition – to complete the
process of election for SUN Business Network Pakistan’s Executive Committee and prepared the
Work Plan 2016.
1) Developed and executed the SUN business engagement strategy in Pakistan, specifically through
document reviews and regular stakeholder consultations, identify the private sector investment
landscape in nutrition in Pakistan and relevant entry points within broader public health nutrition
strategies and programs
2) Engaged businesses in their potential roles in SUN and the potential business benefits to investing
3) Organized technical and political level meetings between business leaders and other key
stakeholders across government, civil society, bilateral and multilateral donors to strengthen cross-
sector dialogue and build consensus on priorities and opportunities
4) Developed a roadmap for business contributions to SUN in key thematic areas, in consultation with
government, and build commitment from a wide range of stakeholders to invest in and implement this
plan
5) Initiated the process of new partnerships which align with the business investment roadmap,
supported by technical assistance in-country and globally as required
6) Liaised with other key SUN Movement stakeholders in country (including Government focal point, civil
society representative, donor leads and others) to build visibility and represent the SBN in country;
7) Provided content and communications support to global SUN Business Network manager to raise
visibility of country level activities to global level;
8) Supervised the GAIN’s registration process under the new policy of Government of Pakistan
9) Supervised country office in administration and financial matters;

A Strategic Management, Value Chain and International Trade Development specialist and have
professional experience of working with major donors including USAID, DFID and INGOs. I have
worked/working on the following projects:
1) Technical member/Value Chain Specialist on ‘Final Performance Evaluation, USAID FIRMS
Project’ for Management Systems International (MSI),a subsidiary of Coffey International Limited,
on USAID Pakistan M&E Bridge Project – The consultancy is to conduct an evaluation of the
USAID Firms Project’s Value Chain (both agriculture and non-agriculture) and Business Enabling
Environment (agriculture, livestock, mining, planning and development departments of provincials’
governments) components. ‘FIRMS Project’ has USD 92 million budget and is the largest and the
most diversified project in the Economic Growth and Agriculture portfolio with focus on Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and have following key objectives:
a) Promote, accelerate, and expand economic opportunities by creating domestic and export market-
driven sales opportunities for private SMEs expanding available jobs in Pakistan;
b) Improve the business-enabling environment at the provincial and the federal level by assisting the
private sector to develop and articulate policy and regulatory reforms that can improve
competitiveness;
The evaluation study was conducted on the criteria of Development Assistance Committee Principles for
Evaluation of Development Assistance by Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

(OECD) (1991) and its key areas are Relevance / Appropriateness, Effectiveness, Sustainability and
Gender.
2) New Business Development Advisor for Mennonite Economic Development Associates, Canada
– Actively monitored and tracked opportunities for new business, networked with international donor
and local organizations for potential opportunities included attending meetings, conferences, and
other functions, and contributed to proposal development as required.
3) Training Need Assessment / Training Content Development Expert on Trainings on Enterprise
Establishment and Entrepreneurships for International Catholic Migration Commission;
4) Technical Lead/Market &Value Chain Specialist on ’Market Survey and Value Chain Analysis’ for
Concern Worldwide; CWW is implementing a Socio-economic development project with financial
support of Global Poverty Action Fund (GPAF) Impact grant of Department for International
Development (DFID), UK with major objective to contribute towards eradication of extreme poverty
and hunger. The objective of the assignment is to identify the potential employable skills for
enterprise development to enhance the income generation opportunities for target communities.
5) Technical Lead/Private Sector Development Specialist on ‘Introducing Market Based Strategies –
Private Sector Scoping in Pakistan’ for Oxfam Novib; The assignment is to give a better
understanding of the private sector trends in Pakistan and to map the opportunities and risks of
engagement with the Private Sector, both from an advocacy and from a more collaborative
perspective.
1) Oversaw the management and implementation of the respective projects/key facilitating partners
(KFPs) – the total grants was more than USD 3,000,000;
2) Provided technical backstopping support to KFPs’ program and other teams including coordination
with KFP teams in all functional areas to insure compliance with USAID rules and regulations
pertaining to Program, Monitoring and Evaluation, Communications, Marketing, Capacity Building and
Grants.
3) Facilitated the KFP teams in undertaking value chain analysis, development of competitive strategy
and incorporating the strategy in project implementation;
4) Worked with KFPs to create work plans which will successfully develop their respective value chains
to meets ENTREPRENEURS’ goals;
5) Maintained strict budgetary adherence and monitoring;
6) Assisted in the mentoring and development of management capacity of field staff to enhance their
program management and technical value chain skills;
7) Undertook visits on a regular cycle to relevant project sites in each location, and as well as those with
all partners to ensure project’s targets are on track;

5) Focus group discussions with groups of workers engaged in the leather sector;
6) A short survey questionnaire of workers to be conducted by telephone (if
desirable).
7) Presentation of the draft research findings to the ILO and a consultative
workshop of tripartite constituents, before finalizing the research report, for validating the
main findings. Information from the consultative workshop will be incorporated into the
report and a final draft will be prepared and agreed with the ILO, for publication.
8) Develop a work plan and field visit plan for task execution
9) Perform any other task that may be assigned by the ILO team.
