Read-A-Thon is Back!
We are excited to announce the return of the Read-A-Thon fundraiser! The Read-A-Thon is
an event that brings students together with family and friends to encourage reading and to
build literacy skills. Last year, our students logged over 122,000 minutes and raised more
than $14,000! The main focus of the Read-A-Thon is for everyone to know our community is
committed to improving reading skills. To that end, the Read-A-Thon promises to be a fun,
exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal Reading Adventure that
challenges each reader to complete reading sessions over our 3-week event. Stay tuned for
more information coming soon!

A Message re: KN95 Masks for Bishop Students

Hello Bishop Families,

Our parent-led community group, Safer Air = Safer Schools, has used generously donated
funds to buy child and adult Powecom KN95 masks directly from BonaFideMasks.com.
THANK YOU to all who have donated to the GoFundMe. We were able to order 4,500
authentic masks last week and distribute them amongst our schools.

If you need a KN95 mask for your child(ren), Safer Air = Safer Schools has delivered a batch
of masks to Nurse Martin. Your child may stop by her office if they need one.

If you have any trouble finding vetted, high-quality masks for your kids, please email the
Safer Air = Safer Schools schools at SaferAirSaferSchools@gmail.com.

Your PTO Dollars at Work

Each year the PTO tries to designate a significant portion of our annual working budget to go
directly to our teachers and staff to cover their personal costs for their classrooms or offices
in which they work. We are keenly aware that our staff buy a great deal of supplies with their
own money and we, as parents, are so grateful for what they do to make our school the best
that it can be. We are pleased to announce that the second round of teacher/staff checks
were distributed this week. In all, 40 checks totaling $7600 were distributed.

Last week, checks were also mailed to room parents to use for classroom activities, parties,
teacher gifts or classroom supplies. In all, 19 checks totaling $4750 were distributed,
The PTO Board also approved a grant for Lunar New Year Decorations that will adorn the
lobby in early February.
