Safety – Suicide Risk Assessment
Learning Objectives:
1. Demonstrate the use of therapeutic communication in the assessment of a client
with suicidal ideation
2. Assess the client at risk for self-harming behaviors and use appropriate nursing
interventions to provide safety.
3. Discuss/Educate the client at risk for self-harm regarding adaptive and
maladaptive use of coping skills
Due date for this assignment: Assignment must be submitted 24 hours before
the student scheduled simulation experience.
Any student failing to submit the assignment will not be allowed to participate in
the experience. If the experience is missed, this will count as a clinical absence
and the clinical absence policy will be followed. The instructor will provide a
make-up assignment which will need to be submitted to the instructor on the date
given per the instructor.

For each medication, the student is to document and know for the simulation:

2. Hand written or typed information related to the times and plasma assay
levels for treating Tylenol overdose. This information will need to be used
during the scenario in the treatment of the patient.
3. Medication teaching information that will be done with the patient. Please
present the information in patient friendly language. No pre printed
information from the internet or photocopied information from a drug book
will be accepted. Drug information should also contain the information
below:
