Once there was a powerful and strong lion in a forest. He ruled the forest peacefully and
his power spread all over the forest. By the time, the lion became old and powerless.
Meanwhile, all the strong animals like hyenas and bears started to force for power both from
outside and inside the forest. Few days later the forest became divided and the lion disappeared.
That started a chaos and war all over the forest. During this crisis, a tiger appeared with great
intelligence and vigor and began to fight aganist the hyenas and the bears so that all the animals
got their rights and could live with peace. By this way, a new era started in the forest. Compare
to the above story, in this essay, I am going to mention the Ottoman Emperor as the lion,
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as the tiger similarly the hyenas and the bears as the Great Power and the
Greek. Now my question is which animals were the most power full aganist the tiger, hyenas or
bears? I think the answer comes the hyenas that means the Great Power. In my following essay I
will reveal the answer through proper explanations of Turkish War of Independance and the
After the World War I, Greece became a threat for the Ottoman Empire. The Greek’s saw
the dream of making great Greece kingdom. For this vision, they signed the Treaty of Serves on
10th August 1920 with the allies. It was more profitable for the Greeks. They took the power of
more territories then before. On the other hand, it was a death certificate for the Turkish nation.
In 15th May 1919 the Greek’s attacked Smryna to take the power of the city. This attack awoke
the Turkish nationalism which was influanced by Mustafa Kemal. They dicided to retake the city

and all the territories which they lost before. Then they started to fight back with new hope. The
Greek armies were getting the full support of the allies. Wherease the Turkish did not get any
help from the outer nations. Although the Turkish armies were seemed formidable to the
oppositions by the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The worth of Turkish Army forced the
Greek Army to go back. Besides, Mustofa Kemal’s Foreign policy helped to negotiate with the
allies. As a result, the Treaty of Lusanne was signed on 14th July 1923 which confirmed the
present border of the modern Turkey. After the consequences, a new Turkey started to reinovate

After the world War I the Britain and Frence took the territoties as the name of peace and
negotiation that divided the Arab and the Ottoman Empire. For this consequences, the Anatolian
provinces were splited and Greeks were on the first place to divide. By the Treaty of Serves they
were able to get Anatolian territories with the help of the Great Power. Britain, France, and
United States completety supported the Greeks. So, the greeks sent troops to Anatolia and
conquered many territories. But, Nationalist of Kemal Atatürk retreated them. When the Great
Power saw the unbeaten breavery of Turkish Army they Turned their sides. They stopped to help
the Greeks. Then it became impossible for Greeks to go for attacking without any help of the
Great power.
Next the Great Power allies were tried to stop the war for their own profit and started
negotiation for peace. Therefore, the Greek army lost. They accepted all the demands of Turkish
army by the treaty of Lausanne. The treaty brought the well being of Turks. According to the
treaty, the area of modern Turkey had been confirmed. Greeks lost all the territories that they

In conclusion, we can see though the Nationalist Turkish armies were fighting with the
Greeks in the front battle. But, it was the Great Power who were controling the war aganist the
Turkish nation. While they were on the side of Greek nation, the Turkish army was struggling.
The unbreakable curriage convinced the the Great Power to change their mind. At last, the treaty
of Lausanne was signed and the Turkish were gained the independence on the own homeland
with pride.
