One of us is Lying

I chose to draw a diagram of the detention scene in the book One of us is Lying by Karen

M. McManus. I chose this scene because it was a big part of the book. This is what I felt set the

entire storyline up. In this scene there are five people in detention for being on their phones in

class. Simon Kelleher( the self proclaimed omniscient narrator). Simon runs a gossip app that

gives everyone the juiciest gossip on campus. Bronwyn Rojas(the brainiac). Browyn is a super

smart girl that has never had a detention in her life and feels the one she was given was unfair.

Nate Macauley(the criminal). Nate is the bad boy of the novel. He is a handsome drug dealer on

probation for selling weed. Although he is known as the criminal, he has a lot more to him than

just that. Addy Pentiss(the princess). Addy is known as a popular and beautiful student. She

values her looks over anything else. Cooper Clay(the jock). Cooper is the jock student at

Bayview high. Cooper is kind and charismatic. Copper is a star baseball player and is dating

Addy. The five students that I have just described are not typically friends. But all that changes

when they witness the death of Simon in the middle of their detention. All in all, I chose to do

the detention scene because I feel it is one of the most important events in the book; if not the

most important.
