LANDSCAPE IS CHANGING FOR DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY

OF LNG MEGA PROJECTS – SHELL VICE-PRESIDENT

“Delivering LNG M ega projects: W hat Got Us Here, W on’t Get Us There!
W hat Needs to Change?”

These are some of the questions to be asked by Hilary Mercer, Vice-President Integrated
Gas Projects, Shell Global Solutions, Malaysia, in her address to the LNG 18 conference and
exhibition in Perth next month.

In answering these questions, Ms Mercer will focus on the strong track record of Shell and
its partners in delivering LNG mega projects around the world from Oman right through to
Sakhalin.

She notes that the landscape of LNG Mega project development and delivery is changing,
with delivery of such projects being inherently complex.

“As we look into the future, it will remain challenging,” Ms Mercer says.

“The stakeholders involved are more varied with different needs and aspirations, the
partnerships created to deliver the opportunity are more disparate, new geographic
locations are being explored, the impact of non-technical risks on project delivery continues
to rise and more technology advances are available to deploy,” she says.

“But has the recipe for developing LNG mega projects become too complex, are they still
affordable? What is the right amount of technological development to deploy? Is the
industry creating the best environment to develop the next generation of LNG project
Delivery Professionals?

“What sorts of contractor relationships are needed to ensure safe, high quality, reliable and
affordable Project Delivery? What can be learnt from the past that will help or hinder
development in the future?”

Ms Mercer’s presentation – scheduled for 13 April at the LNG 18 event - will look at those
questions.

Drawing on personal experience gained whilst delivering LNG mega projects, Shell will
provide insight into how LNG mega projects are being developed using thematic approach,
how technical and non-technical risks are managed, what is being done to work with
contractors to continually improve construction capability and how the next generation of
Project Delivery Professionals are being developed.
The LNG 18 conference in Perth next month is the biggest LNG conference and exhibition
ever held in Australia and the world’s largest event on the 2016 global LNG calendar.

Plenary session speakers include leaders from three of the largest participants in the global
LNG industry - Mr Ben van Beurden (CEO, Royal Dutch Shell), Mr John Watson (CEO and
Chairman of Chevron) and Woodside Ltd CEO Mr Peter Coleman.

LNG industry professionals from more than 70 countries and hundreds of additional gas
industry people will attend the 11-15 April conference for LNG 18, the prestigious triennial
event that dominates LNG discussions throughout the world.
