Jose Rizal: Ang Buhay ng Isang Bayani

(Documentary Analysis)

“Jose Rizal: Ang Buhay ng Isang Bayani” is a documentary film about Dr. Jose Rizal.
This documentary film contains a lot of information about Dr. Jose Rizal from his childhood and
until he became a national hero here in the Philippines. After watching the documentary film, I
have learned a lot of information about Dr. Jose Rizal and on how he starts to promote the
nationalism in the Philippines, even his personal life, and his sacrifices as a normal person. The
film itself is the summary of the Life and Works of Rizal. With the help of this documentary
film, it enables us to further understand the Life and Works of Rizal.
The life of Rizal is extraordinary. He is known as the national hero of the Philippines and
he was the author of the two novels named Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. He sacrifices
his own life to save our country against the rule of Spain. He could choose to live his life with
his family as a normal person that is away from mess, but he chose to fight against the Spain
using his novels. He did great things for our country because of his writings, the Filipinos were
awakened by the inconvenient truth we were in, which results in the rise of revolution. His words
became the fuel to the revolutionaries' fight during those times. It showed also that pen can be a
mighty weapon during a battle.
The documentary film has four parts and it revolves around the life of Rizal from his
childhood up to his death in Dapitan. There was many information about Dr. Jose Rizal that I am
not aware of it. In this documentary film, it shows what kind of ideals and principles that Rizal’s
have.
Furthermore, Rizal’s life is full of learnings that we can embody. His perseverance to
finish his novels even if he is suffering from different difficulties, made me realized that in life
we should really be taught ourselves how to be strong in the midst of uncertainties, if we really
want to achieve what we want to. Rizal in those times suffered from hunger and financial
problem but still, he did not give up. With this, I was able to put in mind that we should follow
Rizal’s viewpoint in life so that we will get rid of depression. I am amazed at how Rizal lived his
life at a young age on how he handles his emotions even if he wanted to cry. If that situation
happens on me, I would also cry. At the very young age, if we are away from our parents, we felt
that we are alone, because we are accustomed with them. I felt sad to Rizal because he went
abroad to study without his family by his side. I can still say we must live that life to the fullest,
because life is too short. This gave me some realizations that if we want to achieve great heights
we must not stop, instead, we must work harder to claim or to reach that particular dream that we
are aiming for. Life again is too short to worry, if we let that sober the moments of us to rule
over our vision, I am sure that we will never do and accomplish our mission.
In conclusion, the film entitled “Jose Rizal: Ang Buhay ng Isang Bayani” was made to
better understand the life and sacrifices of our Philippine hero. We have that different definition
of heroes, but as long as there is the bravery, I could consider it as a hero. Jose Rizal’s life
revolves around in his writings and sufferings. He could live as normal as he wants like other
Filipino, but he chose to fight back against Spanish colonization to show what is right and to
have that freedom that we all want. Rizal willingly died for us and I am hoping that his sacrifices
will still be worthy in this present times. It is not late for us to show our love for our country, we
can still show it in a variety of ways that are within our reach. We all have that voice to speak for
our rights, we have the freedom to do what is right, and we can be the voices for those who
suffer or experience injustices.
