Guideline for Online Viva Voce

This guideline is applicable to Medical colleges, Examiners and Students.

General Policy Instruction and Information:


1. As a general policy, university has adopted to give 70% weightage to internal practical marks
already submitted to the university and 30% weightage to online viva voce under the condition
that student passes in the online viva voce examination.
2. The internal practical marks already submitted to the university will be extrapolated to 50
marks.
3. There will be an online viva-voce of 30 marks (15 marks each allotted to External and Internal
Examiners).
4. Students (Examinees) must pass online viva-voce (pass marks is 50% of allotted viva-voce
marks). Otherwise he/she will be declared a failure in the particular subject. Extrapolation of
internal marks will not be applicable to these failure candidate.
5. For few groups (students) who have already completed their practical exam physically out
of 80 marks, it will be reduced to 30 marks and their internal marks will be extrapolated to
50 marks in order to avoid discrepancies.
6. Viva voce should be completed within the allotted schedule published by the university.
7. Once the viva is completed, Internal and External examiner should award marks to examinee
(i.e. out of 15 marks allotted for each examiner) in the excel sheet format provided by the
university.
8. Once the marks allocation is completed, it should be signed by internal examiner of the college
and counter signed by the Principal (superintendent).
9. Once viva for all the subjects completed within the scheduled published by university, the
superintendent needs to submit all marks foils to the Office of the Controller of Examinations.

For Medical Colleges:


1. College need to arrange appropriate online platform for viva voce purpose. It could be, but not
limited to, online application such as Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or any other online
learning platform.
2. Trace students, and get their valid email address and mobile number registered for Login
purpose into the online platform for viva voce.
3. Arrange appropriate facilities including technical back up for smooth conduction of viva voce.
4. Liaison with Office of the Controller of Examinations.
5. In addition to student college must also send a link for viva voce to following email address
(controllerofexaminations@ku.edu.np) before the viva voce for monitoring purpose.

For Examiners:
1. A laptop or desktop or mobile phone or Tablet (whichever device you want to use) should be
functional along with accessories.
2. Should have valid email address and mobile number registered with the respective medical
colleges.
3. Will receive a meeting link either using zoom or google meet or Microsoft Team or any other
appropriate application from the college before the exam in your registered email address.
4. Your user Login Name and Your photo should be of your own for Identification while login
into the online platform.
5. Have to verify student’s identity card/or admit card once logged in.
6. Video and microphone need to be on throughout the viva voce time.
7. There should not be anyone in your room, other than yourself, from where you are conducting
viva voce.
8. Have to arrange stationary (pen, blank pages etc.) before the exam.
9. In case of power cut or any other emergency, examiner need to contact principal immediately
for further course of action.

For Students (Examinees):
1. A laptop or desktop or mobile phone or Tablet (whichever device you want to use) should be
functional along with accessories.
2. Student should have valid email address and mobile number registered with the respective
medical colleges.
3. Student will receive a meeting link either using zoom or google meet or Microsoft Team or
any other appropriate application from the college before the exam in your registered email
address.
4. Your user Login Name and Your photo should be of your own for Identification while login
into the online platform.
5. Student need to show his/her identity card/or admit card to the examiner for verification
purpose once logged in.
6. Video and microphone need to be on throughout the viva voce time.
7. There should not be anyone in your room, other than yourself, from where you are attending
viva voce.
8. Student need to arrange stationary (pen, blank pages etc.) before the exam.
9. Student is not allowed to use/or access any kind of resources pertaining to the exams e.g. books,
digital resources, chatting or sharing via digital devices or assisted by other people at home.
10. Student is not allowed to leave screen without the permission of examiners during the viva
voce.
11. In case of power cut or any other emergency, student need to contact examiners or principal
immediately for further course of action.
12. Student will be automatically disqualified from exam if he/she found not abiding the
examination regulation.
