Terms and Conditions for Students doing Final Semester Internship

1. There will generally be 2 (two) possible types of Internship:

i) Final Semester Internship followed by Company decision whether they will recruit or
not.
ii) Final Semester Internship after a student is recruited by the Company.

2. Students need to understand the pros and cons of doing the internship up front before
deciding whether to avail this opportunity or not. There is no compulsion from the
Department or Institute on students to do the internship. Students should decide what
is the right choice for themselves.

3. Students will have to appear for all the Examinations conducted by the Institute, e.g.,
Class Test, End Semester Examination, Sessionals, Viva-Voce etc., as per the
schedule notified by the Institute.

4. Students should inform the Company about the above academic commitments as far
in advance as possible, so that they are allowed time off for the same. Students should
note that in general the Company will only allow time off on the actual examination /
viva dates - "study leave" is normally not granted.

5. Students should be proactive to interact with respective faculty members involved in

teaching Final Semester Theory/Lab Papers and ask for Class Notes/ Study Materials
as needed.

6. If there is opportunity, Students are encouraged to do MOOCs Courses. It is to be

noted that the Credit Transfer facility will be available only for selected courses as per
the rules and regulations of the Institute.

7. General expectation on Final Year Project is that during Internship, the Industry Project
that the Students will do will automatically be converted to their Final Year Project.
Companies should be made aware of this expectation of the Institute. For these
Industry projects, the respective Department will assign an appropriate

 guide/supervisor and he/she will look after the technical and logistical details from the
Department's side for the concerned students as needed.

B. If a student needs to also pursue his/her college project in parallel, he/she may be
allowed to do so as long as the student can handle double load without compromising
any responsibility given by the Company as a part of the Internship. The Department
can decide to use College Project as the Official Final Year Project instead of the
Industry Project done by the student during Internship, based on mutual understanding
among the Student, College Project Guide, HoD and Departmental Project Committee.
However, the general expectation is that the Industry Project done during Internship
will be considered as the Final Year Project.
