RESOLUTION ADOPTED AT THE REGULAR STATE


EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY,
12TH JANUARY 2022 AT THE STATE COUNCIL
SECRETARIAT, ILORIN

The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress held her
regular State Executives Council (SEC) meeting at the State
Council Secretariat Labour House Oke-Ode Beside State High
Court, Ilorin on Wednesday, 12th January 2022.

The SEC-in-Session deliberated extensively on reports from her


member branches across the state after which the following
resolutions were adopted

1. IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW MINIMUM WAGE

The SEC-in Session received report from the negotiators from the
Trade Union Side on developments and progress made at the
negotiation table. SEC-in-Session appreciate the both parties
involved in the negotiation for their time invested at arriving at
the final table.

However, it is worrisome that since December 2021 that


Government and Trade Union Negotiators had signed the
agreement, Government has not issued circular for the
implementation.

SEC-in-Session therefore impress it on the State Government to


issue much awaited circular witgout further delay.

2. NATIONAL PROTEST ON INCREASE IN PETROL PUMP


PRICE

SEC-in-Session discussed extensively the directive from the


National Headquarters of NLC as contained in the Communiqué
issued by National Executive Council during her meeting at
Abuja on 17th December 2021 that all State Council should
organized A-Day protest against the proposed increased of pump
price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS/Petrol).

SEC-in-Session sanctioned the decision and affiliates Unions of


the Congress together with Civil Society Organizations, Students
Union Bodies, Non-Governmental Organizations should start
mobilizing their members for the father of all protests in Kwara
State.

3. INSECURITY

SEC-in-Session observed with dismay the recent negative turn of


event on security of life and properties of Kwarans. Notably is the
kidnapping activities that is now thriving in the state that have
confined people from moving around freely to conduct their
business activities without fear of unknown.
SEC-in-Session therefore call on the State Government to
increase synergy with all available national security outfit and
other notable and uncompromised registered security outfit to
keep insecurity under check and save lifes and properties of
kwarans.

4. POOR REFUSE MANAGEMENT IN THE STATE

SEC-in-Session observed the poor service delivery of refuse


management system put in place in the State that has turned our
once beautiful and serene environment into dunghills with
unpleasant odour oozing out of these refuse gathered on our road
dividers across the State Capital.

SEC-in-Session therefore call on the State Government to as a


matter of urgency call the refuse management department to find
a lasting solution to the eyesore created by the refuse
management system adopted. In addition to this, the department
should orientate the masses on the proper and effective waste
management model that will return our State to the part of
honour environmentally.

5. NON-RELEASE OF 2021 PROMOTION LETTERS

SEC-in-session commended the State Government on the


successful conduct of 2021 promotion exercise for Kwara
Workers, SEC-in-Session observed that State Civil Service and
Teaching Service Commission Workers have not received their
promotion letters till date.
SEC-in-Session therefore call on the State Government to direct
appropriate authorities to release these promotion letters and
cash back it for the benefits of Kwara workers.

6. APPRECIATION

The leadership of the congress appreciate all workers in the state


for their doggedness when the negotiation lasted.
