Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you are all well and you are still managing to keep positive in these
testing times. The time seems to be flying, and all minds are now looking to the end
of this academic year, and thinking about what will be happening in September.

On Friday, Gavin Williamson, Education Secretary, made a statement in which he

described the government’s aim to have all children back in school in September; I
desperately hope this is the case. It has been frustrating not to be allowed to have
Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 back in school and I know every member of staff is eager to have
them back.

With the end of term coming, the Governing Body, SLT and myself have met to
discuss how we can support the children who have not been allowed to return, to
ensure that they can get a chance to meet their new teacher and so they are ready
to return in September. This letter outlines our plans for the end of the summer
term and the summer holidays.

Transition Mornings
To help children with moving into the next year group, plans have been drawn up
to allow EVERY child to return to school - for a morning - to meet their new
teacher.

These transition mornings will be over three days, from Wednesday 15 th July until
Friday 17th July. Every child, from Reception to Year 5, will receive an invitation
which will tell them who their new teacher is and which day they will be invited in to
meet them. These invitations will be sent out during the week beginning 29 th June.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to change the allocated days as they have been
organised to facilitate families and to ensure the group numbers remain small
enough for social distancing to be maintained.

On the day, children will also get a chance to say goodbye to their old teacher and
will be able to collect their report. The transition mornings will be from
approximately 9am until 11.45am (start and finish times will be staggered). Any
children who cannot attend the Transition Mornings will be contacted by their new
teacher at some point over these three days so they can introduce themselves.

Children due to start in Reception in September 2020 will be contacted by the EYFS
team during this week.
EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6
To enable the Transition Mornings to take place all EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6
Bubbles will have their last day on Tuesday 14th July.

This will be the last day in school for Year 6.

EYFS and Year 1 will be then be invited in for one Transition Morning as described
above.

Provision for Keyworkers’ Children

The school will be able to support all keyworker families up to Friday 17 th July.

This will be facilitated by placing the children with their new class teacher for the
three Transition Mornings. It is essential that keyworker families let the school know
via email: primaryschool@alford.lincs.sch.uk if places are required for this week by
Friday 3rd July at the latest, in order to ensure staffing provision.

In order to allow staff time to prepare the school for the next academic year,
provision for the children in Pirate, Jungle and Dumbledore Bubble will finish on
Friday 17th July. We may have a very limited number of places available for
Keyworkers’ children on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st July. These will be allocated
on a first come, first served basis. Again, please request these places by emailing the
office by Friday 3rd July at the latest.

Summer Holidays

The school will be closed to all pupils, including keyworkers’ children over
the summer holiday.

Summer Holiday Free School Meals

As confirmed by the government, there will be provision for families in receipt of
Free School Meals over the six-week holiday. We still have not received any
guidance regarding this but we will update you as soon as we do.

If you have any questions or queries, please contact us via the school email address.
We hope you enjoy the lovely weather and look out for the Parent Hub messages
coming next week.

Kind regards,

Vicky Ross
