Mane:
Cut 10” lengths of yarn in rainbow colours. Starting just behind the horn, double a strand of yarn, insert a
small crochet hook under one stitch and pull the loop through the stitch. Pull the tails through the loop to
knot the yarn around the stitch. Continue along the neck until the mane is as long as you want it.
Trim to even up the mane.
Tail:
Cut 10” lengths of yarn in rainbow colours. On the back of the unicorn on the
row just above where you began decreasing to finish off, double a strand of
yarn, insert a small crochet hook under one stitch and pull the loop through
the stitch. Pull the tails through the loop to knot the yarn around the stitch.
Repeat in a close cluster around the first stitch with the other colours of yarn
until the tail is as full as you want it to be. Trim to desired length.
Finishing:
With pale pink embroidery thread, stitch a line
across the face, along the line of the first muzzle
increases, from the point of the short rows on one
side of the face to the other (see picture for
example).
With black embroidery thread, stitch eyes starting
from the pink line, extending upwards for 2-3
stitches. Stitch two small lines for nostrils, and
backstitch the mouth from about half to two-thirds
of the way down the line of short row stitches on
one side of the face to the other.
