INTRODUCTION
 Optimization of HVAC performance saves
energy and money.
 Effective, energy-efficient technologies reduce
HVAC-related energy costs while enhancing
infection control.
 Decisions regarding the HVAC system for new
construction and existing buildings are most
effective when undertaken as part of a facility-
wise energy management program.
Need of air conditioning
 To control the Temperature.
 To control the Humidity.
 To Circulate the Air in Proper Flow.
 To control the Contamination of Air.
OBJECTIVES
 Different temperature and humidity
requirements for various areas.
 Specific requirements for ventilation and
filtration to dilute and remove contaminants
such as odor, airborne microorganisms,
viruses and also hazardous chemicals.
 Need to restrict air movement in and
between the various rooms.
PROPOSED IDEA
 To calculate distribution of heat in the room
for proper positioning of air conditioner in
the building.
 Study of heat variation due to patients,
visitors, equipment and accessories present
in a room.
 Efficient design of rooms and floors using
climatology.
Basic Layout
Category of wards No. of beds
 General ward 1(medical) 30
including allied speciality.
 General ward 2 (surgical) 30
including allied speciality
 Private ward 19
 Maternity ward 15
 Pediatric ward 6
Work Progress
After survey it is being observed that
 Coverage area per bed is about 92.5 m2.
 According to government norms ground coverage is 25% of
total area so minimum of about 1.5 hectare land is required.
 The air used in patient’s room should not be circulated
anywhere else as being contaminated air it can cause
infection.
 This air can be utilized for cooling water.
 For lighting purpose solar panels can be used to reduce the
power consumption in the hospital
