Updating a GTN with Database Concierge

IMPORTANT – MUST COMPLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING DOWNLOAD

1. Your Garmin Pilot email address must be the same as your fly.garmin.com email address.
2. Ensure your iPad is connected to WiFi
3. You must be running Garmin Pilot software version 8.4.3 or later to run database concierge.
Verify this in the Garmin Pilot application by going to Home > Settings > General > Information.

If Garmin Pilot is out of date, you must update the software using the App Store on the iPad.

App Store > Updates > Click UPDATES located at the bottom right >
Click UPDATE located to the right of Garmin Pilot.

1
To Start Database Concierge:
In Garmin Pilot, click on Home > Connext > Database Concierge > Enable Database Concierge

The flyGarmin Setup page will populate with the aircraft from your account.
Press Continue.
Note: Pressing “Update Aircraft & Devices on flyGarmin” will
take you out of Garmin Pilot and to flygarmin.com. Only press
this if you need to do a change to your account.

Press Continue on the

next page, and Accept
the license agreement.

2
Garmin Pilot will begin downloading your databases. To see the status of your downloads, click
on the arrow next to Go to Downloads.

Note: To get back to the database concierge page, you will need to go to Home > Connext >
Database Concierge.

If the Downloading page says “No Downloads Available” or the wrong aircraft is showing, click
on Aircraft at the top left.

Choose the aircraft you want to see, or

choose All Aircraft

3
The download time depends upon your internet speed. On a 50 MB internet connection, a full
GTN 650 download (including Terrain) averaged under 7 minutes. A full GTN 750 (including
Terrain and FliteCharts) averaged under 11 minutes.

When the databases are done downloading, the queue will clear and a green check mark will
appear next to the databases.

A green check will also appear in the

Database Concierge page.

4
At The Aircraft:
Power on the GTN
At the database page, the device will say “Connect to the Flight Stream WiFi Network” and list
your devices name.

On your iPad, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Choose your device name
To get the password, Click on “Show WiFi Info” on the GTN. Enter the password on your
ipad.

When the GTN says it is connected to your device, open Garmin Pilot on your iPad.

5
Your databases will automatically generate on the GTN

Press Start and the GTN will begin updating.

Do not leave the Garmin Pilot app, or it will cancel the download process.
Pressing “Skip Transfer and Continue” on the GTN will stop the transfer process. If either of
these happen, you will have to restart the GTN and begin the transfer process again.

6
In Garmin Pilot, under the Downloads page or Connext page, it will show “Transferring
Databases” and a wheel will spin. As long as the percentage is increasing on the GTN, the
databases are transferring.
When the transfer process is complete, the GTN will update and verify the databases.
When all of the databases are updated, the Continue option will be able to be pressed.

7
To Change a Database Mid-Cycle:

After the database has been changed in the fly.garmin.com

account, download the available database to Garmin Pilot
using the previous instructions.
Garmin Pilot will see there is a different database available for
download and will download that to the iPad.

Because the cycle numbers are the same, the GTN will show “No Database Updates on
Portable Device”
 Click on “Show All DBs” at the bottom of the GTN.

8
The new database region(s) will show. Press Start.

The GTN will complete the database change.
