Installation Guidelines for this upgrade
• This release can be installed on a fresh PC; and it can be installed as a base build or as
an upgrade on earlier releases on top of 2.0.14.3 and its upgrades till 2.0.49.8.
• Manually deleting Compass folder from the computer to remove Compass 2.0 will corrupt
the registry and will cause unexpected issues with future installation.
• Do not run legacy and new installation at the same time. The Compass 2.0 installation
normally does not require the computer to be rebooted. However, in scenarios where
some files are in use, the setup will display a message to reboot the computer.
• After Compass 2.0 installation, you cannot use the Compass 1.5.8.X version existing on
your computer. Even after you remove Compass 2.0 installation, you may not be able to
work with Compass 1.5.8.X. To continue with 1.5.8.x version, install it again.
• Panel application short-cut keys are not supported for check-boxes etc.
• Compass 2.0 supports MS SQL Server\SQL Express database in the network. It does not
support MS Access 2.0 due to limitations imposed by Microsoft. You will need to migrate
Compass MS Access 2.0 legacy database to MS SQL Server\SQL Express. This can be
done by choosing ‘Migrate Access accounts’ option during installation.

Backup your current database

• Launch database management utility from Start->Programs ->Compass Windows
Downloader->DatabaseManagementUtility.
• Select the “Backup Database” radio button.
• Select compass 2.0 database server from the Server Name drop-down menu. This will
usually be ComputerName\Compass20.
• Click the “Fetch Databases from Server” button.
• Choose the database you wish to back up from Database dropdown.
• Click the Backup Database button.
• You will receive a confirmation message showing the backup location and file name.
The file name will be the databasename_Date_Time.bak.

Download and Install the Upgrade Software from the Web

• Download the installation file from MyWeb Tech. Double-click the CompassSetup.exe
file.
NOTE: For assistance in obtaining the setup file from MyWeb Tech, contact Technical
Support at 1-800-645-7492.
• Follow the Setup program instructions on the screen during the installation process.
• When prompted, click the UPDATE button.
• Click FINISH to complete the installation.
