Sudoku: Game Mechanics

Game description:
Sudoku came from a Japanese word “Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru” which means that
the numbers must be unmarried or limited to a single occurrence (sū (ji), means number
and doku(shin) which means single.). It is a puzzle in which a grid consisting of several
regions is to be filled with numbers so that every row, column, and region contains only
one instance of each number. The most common format is a grid of nine rows and
columns that are divided into nine smaller regions of three rows and three columns into
which the numbers 1 through 9 must be placed.

Participants:
The Sudoku game is open to all bonafide members of the Young Educators Society.
Each class shall have two (2) representatives. Both representative will answer on their
own since it is a single player match.

Game Mechanics:
1. The game will be held on [Date], [Day], at [time] via Google Meet and
messenger.
2. The representatives shall enter the virtual room at least 15 minutes before the
game proper. Late representatives will be automatically disqualified.
3. The players shall secure stable internet connection before the game to avoid
internet problems during the game.
4. Each representative shall have prepared a pen and papers with one (1) of each
6x6, 8x8, and 9x9 empty grid before entering the virtual room.
5. During the game, the answering template will be flashed on the screen and the
players should copy the given on their papers when go signal was announced.
6. Just the usual Sudoku game, the player must fill in the numbers without repetition
in a column and row.
7. The game consists of three (3) rounds. Easy round with 6x6 grid which should be
answered for 5 minutes, moderate round with 8x8 grid which should be answered
for 10 minutes and hard with 9x9 grid which should be answered for 15 minutes.

8. Once the player is done answering the puzzle, they send the picture of their
answer to the assigned facilitator through messenger. The facebook name of the
facilitator will be announced before the game starts.
9. SCORING SYSTEM
a. Easy Level 6x6 grid
 First player who finished the puzzle correctly will receive 15 points.
 Second player to pass with all correct answer will receive 13 points.
 Third player to pass with all correct answer will receive 10 points.
 Fourth player to pass with all correct answer will receive 8 points.
 All remaining players with all correct answer will receive 5 points.
 All players with minimal wrong answer will receive 3 points.
 All players with maximal wrong answer or no correct answer will receive 1
point.
b. Moderate Level 8x8 grid
 First player who finished the puzzle correctly will receive 20 points.
 Second player to pass with all correct answer will receive 18 points.
 Third player to pass with all correct answer will receive 15 points.
 Fourth player to pass with all correct answer will receive 13 points.
 All remaining players with all correct answer will receive 10 points.
 All players with minimal wrong answer will receive 5 points.
 All players with maximal wrong answer or no correct answer will receive 1
point.
c. Hard Level 9x9 grid
 First player who finished the puzzle correctly will receive 30 points.
 Second player to pass with all correct answer will receive 25 points.
 Third player to pass with all correct answer will receive 20 points.
 Fourth player to pass with all correct answer will receive 15 points.
 All remaining players with all correct answer will receive 13 points.
 All players with minimal wrong answer will receive 10 points.
 All players with maximal wrong answer or no correct answer will receive 3
point.
10. All accumulated points will be tallied and the score of both participants per
section will be combined to get the total score.
11. CHEATING IS STRICKLY PROHIBITED!!! Any form of cheating will not be
tolerated such as, but not limited to using of search button/google, using online or
offline Sudoku calculator and asking anyone’s help. Anyone who found guilty of
cheating will be disqualified.
