‘Should it be necessary to weld cracks on screens for temporary repairs, use this procedure: 4. Locate end of crack and drill one-fourth inch hole at teach end of crack to prevent crack from progressing 2. Gouge, chip, or grind out crack as shown in Fig. 6-2 (CROSS SECTION THRU CRACK Views CHIP OUT CRACK ‘ON ONE SIDE TO ‘THIS DEPTH wiew #2 982"— v8" MAX. Locally preheat to approximately 150°F (65°C), if possible. 4, Weld with one-eighth inch (3.2 mm) diameter AWS E-6010 or AWS E-7018 electrode. Back chip and back weld to insure full penetration weld if possible (see Fig. 6-2) 5. Grind weld flush (see Fig. 6-9). 6. MECHANISM DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY Handling Bearings Spherical roller bearingsare used in all RIPL-FLO mecha- isms. Take the following precautions when handling screen bearings. Work with clean tools, in clean surroundings. Be sure hands are clean and dry. Use clean, lint-free rags. Do not use cotton waste. Store new bearings in their original unopened package: ‘Do not open package until ready to install bearing, IMPORTANT When replacing bearings, use only precision Doarings built to Alis-Chalmers specifications. Donotuse “standard” commercial bearings. Any damage toa mechanism or bearing housing due to installation of a “standard” commercial De ing willbe the operator's responsibilty 5. Do not spin bearings with compressed &. Wash used bearing in clean kerosene or other approved solvent, then rinse in light oil and relubricate. Dismantling Mechanisms Here is detailed step-by-step, fully illustrated sequence for dismantling RIPL-FLO mechanisms. Similar assembly procedures follow. Before initiating the mechanism disas- Cembly, study the parts relationship shown in Fig. 6-3A, “Exploded view — typical RIPL-FLO vibrating mecha nism,” and Fig. 6-88, “Cutaway model of No, § RIPL-FLO, mechanism.” 4. Drain oil from oil-lubricated mechanism (Nos. 4-4,5-8 and 6-5). 2, Remove balance wheel bolt (3882-0) and washer (8880-0), See Figs. 6-4 and 6-6.
