INTRODUCTION
Public transportation is used by people to travel from in the town of Port
Antonio to the community of Anchovy Gardens. It is observed that among the
taxi drivers there is a preferred type of vehicle that is used by most of them.
This study seeks to investigate the type of vehicle that is preferred for public
transportation in Anchovy Gardens.
1. To find out what type of vehicle is mostly used for public transportation
in Anchovy Gardens
2. To find out what percentage of taxi drivers use this type of vehicle

METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
In order to collect the necessary information for this research, the researcher
conducted a survey among ten (10) taxi drivers. During the survey the
respondents were asked what type of vehicle they preferred and what influenced
their reasoning. With the information gathered, the researcher did an analysis of
the data to determine:

Figure 1 shows the response to the question “What type of car do you own?” It
is observed that the Toyota Wish is owned by two (2) taxi drivers, the Toyota
Probox and Mitsubishi AD Wagon are owned by three (3) drivers each and the
Honda Stream and Toyota Corolla Kingfish are owned by one (1) taxi drivers
each.

Figure 2 shows the response to the question “Why did you choose this specific
type of car?” One (1) taxi driver said because it requires less maintenance, two
(2) taxi drivers said because it uses less fuel and is fast and five (5) taxi drivers
said because of the seating capacity.

Figure 3 is a chart showing the response to the question “How long do you own this vehicle?” 20% of
the respondents said less than 10 years, 30% of the respondents said 1-5 years and the remaining
50% said 5+ years.
