Define Festival Dances

- Festivals are meant to celebrate and promotes arts and events that are peculiar to a
particular culture or society. Festivals may also be a celebration or a commemoration
yet it depicts the cultural heritage of the concerned group. Festivals are cultural dances
performed to the strong beats played by a group from the same culture that is done in
honor of a particular icon or saint and thanking or done in appreciation for a bountiful
harvest. Dance Festival draws people from different cultures by show casing way of life
through their dance steps, movements and costumes. Dances festival attracts lots of
tourists. This enable many communities, travels and Tours companies to generate lots of
money through the event.
It promotes travels and tourism in the area or region where it is organized.
It is an event where dance performance is celebrated and promoted.
Dances festivals are organize to discover talented dancers. Due to their impressive show
or performances they are given trophies, monetary prize or scholarship which may
increase their quality of life and raise their hope.
A Dance Festival is used as major part of celebration.

Differentiate Religious and Secular Festival

 Religious festival- Are done in honor of a certain Religious icon or saint of a


particular place. For example for this is the most well-known Festival in our
country found in Cebu City with the celebration of Sto. Niño, the Sinulog Festival.
 Secular festival- Celebrated in Thanksgiving or celebration of people’s industry
and bountiful harvest. This Festival focus on the cultural heritage aspect of our
country and are celebrated with enthusiasm and passion. Example of this is the
Kaamulan Festival. It is a gathering of Bukidnon tribespeople for a purpose. A
Thanksgiving festival during a harvest time, a peace pact showcasing the unique
indigenous culture of Bukidnon. The Kaamulan is annually in the province
particularly in Malaybalay City, the provincial capital.
