PEREZ FS BLOOD LETTING ACTIVITY

By FO2 Hiroshi M Adriano

Today, Most of the medical care depends on a steady supply of blood from donors as the ratio shows 1
in 7 people entering the hospital needs blood. Vividly, increment in the demand for blood is needed for
patients facing trauma and other lifesaving procedures such as blood transfusion. As supported by the
Republic Act no. 7719 also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994, which promotes voluntary
blood donation this act aims to inculcate public awareness that blood donation is a humanitarian act.

Surely the BFP succor and intensifies its advocacy on voluntary blood donation by assisting and
strengthening the campaign of the existing blood services networks for instance the Perez BFP in perez,
Quezon a 5th Class Municipality 4th District region 4a spearheaded by FO3 Percival R Del Moro-Acting
Municipal Fire Marshal under the leadership of FSUPT ROWENA H GOLLOD- Provincial Fire Director
together with all the station personnel wholeheartedly Assisted the Rural Health Unit of the municipality
headed by Dra. Cynthia Oliveros conjointly with medical center nurses in the campaign boosting the
consciousness of all potential volunteers to donate blood, and thereafter facilitated the voluntary
bloodletting activity held in the municipal gymnasium from 0900H to 1130H 25 March 2021. In
consonance, a total of 51 blood donors took part in the activity, each donor asked standard questions
prior donating blood to assist determining if they are in good health, the BP should not exceed
140/80mmHg and free of any disease that could be transmitted by blood transfusion 40 were eligible
and passed the screening of the Physician and they voluntarily donated their blood. Subsequently, the
perez personnel also give assistance on post blood donation care, donors were advised to rest at least
an hour, drink extra fluids, eat rich in iron,B-2,ribloflavin and avoid strenuous physical activities for the
next 5 hours.

Clearly this program will definitely aid the spike of the demand for blood supply. Moreover, to prevent a
significant draw down of supply necessary to meet blood necessities especially in this time of crisis.
However, due to the pandemic the task of continuous maintaining social distancing, wearing of mask
and face shield with proper observance of minimum health standards amidst covid-19 pandemic
remains one of the major challenges thus, the strengthening multi sectorial collaboration to the
MDRRM, Kabalikat, Office of the Mayor, RHU and other LGU unit are fundamental for a successful
bloodletting activity which do not only promote a sense of achievement, but the fact that together we
can save lives is indeed a fulfillment. The acquisition of this service to others is the absolute and
insuperable goal of countless people, being able to help or assist others is what adds merriment to our
diurnal existence. For those who are already blessed with health and life are certain on whatever they
want to do, to fill the gap and continuously enjoy this sense of gladness by voluntarily donating blood it
is a double blessing if one has the beauty and grandeur of both worlds.

Apparently, the BFP support to the community is second to none and still an integral part of the society
by being productive by calling the help of every Filipino to take step of helping others in every
emergency situation by giving priceless gift of BLOOD/LIFE, even if it is non-fire activities natural
disasters as well as man-made catastrophes. Hence, this venture and pursuit can establish ourselves to
have a firmer inter-intra-personal foundation that we are indeed saving lives and will prevent from laid
back misdemeanor.
