A Village Fair for the benefit of Friends
Home & Village will include educational
session on ‘Going Green’, live music, flea
market and bake sale. Tickets will be sold
for fair events, such as pony rides, moon
bounce, face painting and lunch. The event

Welcome Day
May 22, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
The 12th Annual Welcome Day, being
held rain or shine on Sunday, May 22
from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. will take place
on Sycamore Street. This one day event
draws 8,000 to 10,000 people annually.
The street will be filled with businesses
showcasing their products and services,

Gardening Series continues on Thursday,

on container gardening. The Newtown

Memorial Day Parade
May 30
Newtown pays tribute to its veterans with
a Memorial Day Parade and solemn cer-
emonies presented by American Legion
Post. The parade forms at 9 a.m. at the
Newtown Commons.
Strawberry Festival
June 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
A Strawberry Festival will be held on the
grounds of the historic Olde Newtown
Church on Sycamore Street. Event fea-
tures fresh strawberries, strawberry short-
cake, hot dogs and beverages, cheddar
cheese imported from Lancaster County
and homemade baked goods. Other fea-
tures: gently used books, plants, a flea
market, musical entertainment and tours of
the historic church.
Takin’ it to the Street
June 4, 4-9 p.m.
The street fair takes place on Sycamore
Street between Durham and Silo roads.
Event includes sidewalk sales, entertain-
ment, carriage rides, face painting and
games for the kids, strawberry-themed
drinks for adults and plenty of food.
The event is presented by the Sycamore
Street Civic Association.

History Walking Tour
June 10, 6:30 p.m.
The Newtown Historic Association will
hold a Historic Walking Tour of one of
the historic areas of Newtown to be held
June 10 at 6:30 p.m. weather permitting.
The tour will begin at the Half-Moon
Inn, Court Street and Centre Avenue,
Newtown (one block east of Starbucks
zand the Gap) and will be led by Jeffrey
Marshall of the Heritage Conservancy.
The tour will feature architecturally sig-
nificant Newtown buildings on North
Chancellor Street and North Lincoln
Avenue. Admission is free.

The 2nd annual Run Over Cancer steps
off at 8 a.m. at the Newtown Middle

Check-in is at 8 a.m. followed by the race
at 9 a.m. There will be prizes for the top
three male and female finishers and top
