Content Standard:
The learners demonstrate understanding of projectile motion.

Performance Standard:
The learners should be able to apply the concepts in daily life situations or propose ways to
enhance sports related to projectile motion.

Most Essential Learning Competency:

G. Concepts:

1. Projectile motion is defined as the motion of an object that is thrown or projected

into the air in which gravity is the only force acting on it. (Neglecting air
resistance).
2. Projectile is the term for the object that shows a projectile motion. The path
covered by a projectile is called a trajectory which is a parabolic or curve-like
figure. The trajectory of a projectile launched at an angle is symmetrical, which
means that, there is an equal size on both sides of the parabola.
3. The distance from the point the object is released up to the highest point it
reached on air is the maximum height of a projectile, while the range is the
horizontal distance covered by a projectile. The angle of projection is the angle
between the initial velocity and the horizontal plane where the object is thrown.

4. Projectile launched at an angle has two components:

● A constant horizontal velocity that moves in the same direction as the
launch, the acceleration of which is zero;
● An upward positive vertical velocity component that is decreasing in
magnitude until it becomes zero at the top of the trajectory but because

gravity makes it accelerate downward at a rate of 9.8 m/s per second

or 9.8 m/s.
The maximum height of the object in projectile motion depends on the initial
velocity, the launch angle, and the acceleration due to gravity.

5. The angle of release dictates the height, range, and time of flight of a projectile.
The greater the angle of release, the higher the maximum height, and the
shorter the range reached by the projectile

“Very good class! It is good that you learned

well last week. Today, you are going to learn
the relationship of the angle of release to the
height and range of a projectile.”
(The teacher presents the most essential
learning competency of the lesson.)
Pre-test: (3-5 minutes)

of a projectile launched at an angle, you will
have a 5-item pre-test. Go to joinmyquiz.com
and type in the code _______ or click the link

Motivation: (1-2 minutes)
Picture Analysis:
“The teacher will show some animated pictures:

“A basketball thrown by a player is an

“In the Angry Birds’ game, what do we have to “We have to properly aim the projectile bird

that it will hit the bad piggy.”
“Yes, that is correct! Now we will look closely as
to why aiming or having the correct angle is very
important for projectiles.”
