Ms. Egbert’s
Classroom

This class has 24 students, but there are 28 desks just in case they are needed in the
future. This classroom is designed so that the teacher is sitting behind the students while they
are working on assignments, but there is also plenty of standing room at the front of the
classroom for lectures. There will not be desktop computers in the classroom as almost all high
schools in CCSD are using individual student chromebooks but iPads or extra chromebooks
may be available as necessary(perhaps stored in the filing cabinet). The teacher’s desk is near
the door so that students can easily talk to the teacher on their way in or out of class. The desk
being in this location also makes it so that students cannot leave without at least acknowledging
the teacher. On the bookshelf near the door, there will be hand sanitizer, tissues, cleaning
supplies, and extra pencils. The assignment table is intended to have all assignments organized
by period for students to grab if they missed a class period. The basket for turning in work will
also be on this table. The class rules will be posted on the wall near the smartboard at the front
of the room. These rules will be decided on by the students and teacher together. On the other
side of the smartboard there will be word art. “Yagottawanna” is a phrase a teacher of mine had
in their classroom when I was in middle school. It means that in order to succeed
“yagottawanna”. It means that you need to want to do well in order to actually do well. On one of
the walls there will be decorations such as pictures, quotes, posters, and book covers. In the
back corner of the classroom there are two free-read bookshelves. The books on these shelves
are books that students could check out and take home. There may also be an opportunity for
extra credit, students will write short summaries for every chapter in a whole book. There are
aisles on every side of the classroom to make it easier to get from one side to the other.
