The learners explain the understanding on how lights act as a wave and a particle.

At the end of the lesson, 85% of the learners must be able to:
1. describe the propagation of light,
2. differentiate the wave model of light and particle model of light and
3. explain the photon theory of light.

0 Discovery Learning- The teacher will let the learners discover the concept of
the different models of light.
0 Revolving circles- The teacher will let the learners discuss and brainstorm the
concept of the models of light and they will choose one resource speaker to
discuss with the other groups about the models they have discussed.
0 Discussion Bingo -the teacher will let the learners sharpen their understanding
the different models of light.
0 Advance Organizer- the teacher uses graphic organizers to summarize and
differentiate the different models of light.

E. Key concepts
Corpuscular (or particle) theory of light by Isaac Newton
-stated that light consisted of particles that travelled in straight lines.

Wave theory of light by Christian Huygens


- Huygens argued that if light were made of particles, when light beams crossed, the particles
would collide and cancel each other. He proposed that light was a wave.

Electromagnetic theory of light by James Clerk Maxwell


-combined electricity, magnetism,and light.

Quantum theory of light


-combines the two major theories of light, suggesting that light does not always behave as a
particle and light does not always behave as a wave.

Motivation

today. We will be having a minute quiz relay. What you are going to do is, I want e

minute. Each member of the group are
required to answer, after the given grace of
time, he/she must pass the paper to the
other members and so on. Take note; no
words or phrase repeated. Are you ready
everyone?” “Yes Sir!”

“The question is, What is light?”

Students answer the question seriously.

After 5 minutes.

“Time is up everyone. Let us check your


work. I will call someone to read your
answer.” One member of the group read their
answers.

“Very good! All of your answers are


correct! Let’s clap our hands.” Students clap their hands.

Presentation of Objectives

This evening, we are going to target the


following lesson objectives, I want you to
read the objectives,
1. describe the propagation of light,
2. differentiate the wave model of light
and particle model of light and
3. explain the photon theory of light. Students read the target lesson objectives.

“So based on our minute quiz relay a while ago, what do you think our lesson for this
evening? Anyone?”

“Very well said, Andrie.”
“Our lesson for today explains more on the
propagation of light and how it behaves in
a given medium, whether the lights acts as
a wave or a particle. I hope you read and
research in advance about this dual nature Students listen attentively.

“This evening we will be having an


activity called Discussion Bingo. It is like
a Debate that will test how sharp your
understanding base on the topic. Wherein
you have 4 cards; propose which one team
will formulate a statement base on the
topic; support which the opponent team
agrees the statement of the one team;
challenge which one team opposes the
statement of the opponent team and
question which one team throw a question
to the opponent team base on the topic.
Anyone of the members must cooperate
and have a sentiment regarding the topic.
In every good question, sentiments and
opinion will have a corresponding points. I
will be graded you individually. The
noisiest team will have a deduction of
points. Remember in every raise opinion,
questions and sentiments must be
presented concisely in just one minute. If
you hear the bell then that’s the time to
stop your sentiments.”
“Yes Sir.”
“Is all clear everyone?”
“Kindly count one to two and find your
group silently. Kindly prepare one
whole sheet of paper per group and
write the name of the members” Students find their groupmates silently.
