Daisy, to please lead the prayer?

b. Greetings
Good afternoon, students. Good afternoon, ma’am.
To wake you up, hand sideward then shake then
front to right, massage the person in front of you.
Now, turn to left and massage again.

Arrange your chairs properly, pick up the pieces

of papers around you and you may now take your
seats.
(Students are arranging their chairs properly and
pick up pieces of paper, if any.)

c. Checking of Attendance
Is there any absent in the class?

That’s great. None, ma’am.

d. Recalling of the Classroom Rules

Let us recall our guidelines when we are
inside the classroom.
Classroom Rules:

1. Respect one another

2. Be positive

3. Always participate

B. Reviewing or Presenting the new lesson

TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
Before we proceed to our new lesson, what was our (Students are raising their hands)
previous all about, anyone?

Yes, Jenny In our previous lesson, we discussed about waves.

Excellent, again what are the 3 types of waves that we Transverse waves, longitudinal waves and surface
have discussed? waves.

Now who can distinguish transverse from longitudinal In transverse waves particles move perpendicular to
waves? the motion of the wave. While in longitudinal waves
particles move parallel to the motion of the wave.
Very good.

Very well said, you have learned a lot in our last topic.
Are you excited for new lesson today?
Yes ma’am.

C. Establishing the purpose for the lesson

TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
Class let’s play the game “arranged me” all you need to
do is to arranged this jumbled letters.

Are you ready?

Yes ma’am.

CALMECHANI AWEVS

SUNDO WEVAS
SOUND WAVES
MICSEIS AWEVS
SEISMIC WAVES
ERAWT SEWAV
WATER WAVES
Did you enjoy the game?

Okay, class what you think our lesson for today? Yes ma’am.

-about waves ma’am.

Other guess?
-ma’am our topic for today is about mechanical
Okay, very good our topic for today is all about waves.
mechanical waves.

But before we continue, who wants to read our

objectives?
(Student will read the objectives)
At the end of the lesson, the learner should be able
to:
a. define mechanical waves;
b. identify the different types of medium in a
mechanical waves; and
c. value the importance of mechanical waves
that can be found in their surroundings.
Thank you.

D. Presenting examples/instances for the new lesson

TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY

Now I will divide you into 4 group groups. You will

perform Activity 3.1 on Mechanical vs. Electromagnetic
Waves. Each group should have 1 representative to
present your collaborative work in front.

Are we clear? Yes, ma’am.

Okay, then you may now proceed to your respective
groups.

“What is a mechanical wave?”

When you created wave using a rope, you were able to

observe a moving pattern. In this case, the medium of
wave propagation is the rope.
1. When you created a wave using a basin filled with
water.

Q1. What is the medium of the wave propagation?

2. When you created a wave using a slinky string.

Q2. What is the medium of the wave propagation?

Q3. What do you think is the source of earthquake?

Q4. What is the medium of propagation of earth quake

waves?

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY

Okay, time is up. Everybody please to your proper seats.

It’s time to present your work in front. Group 1 will be Group 1, will present their work.
the first presenter, followed by group 2, 3, and 4.
Thank you group 1, everybody let’s give 5 claps to group
1.
Next group 2, please proceed in front.
Group 2. Will present their work.
Very good group 2, everybody let’s give ang galing-galing
clap to group 2.

Group 3, now it’s your turn. Group 3 will present their work.
Nice! Everybody let’s give aleng Dionesia clap to group 3.

Last but not the least, let us call on the group 4. Group 4 will present their work.
Good job, group 4. Everybody let’s give 51/2 claps to
group 4.

F. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY

Now to further understand, let us check if your answers

are correct.

Q1. What is the medium of the wave propagation?

1. water
Correct.

Q2. What is the medium of the wave propagation?

2. slinky
Very good, the slinky is the medium of the wave
propagation.

Q3. What do you think is the source of earthquake?

Excellent! Earthquakes are the result of sudden
movement with the earth. 3. Sudden movement of faults.

Q4. What is the medium of propagation of earth quake

waves?

Very good. The earth is the medium of propagation of

earthquake waves.
The movement releases stored-up “elastic strain” energy 4. Earth
in the form of seismic waves, which propagate through
the earth and cause the ground surface to shake.

Job well done everyone.

G. Developing mastery
TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
Okay class based on the activity that you performed,
now do you have idea what is mechanical wave?
Yes ma’am.
Based on your understanding what is mechanical wave?
- Mechanical waves is a wave that needs a medium
to travel.
Very Good!

The waves that you have created in Activity A. all

require a medium for wave propagation. They are called
mechanical waves.

Mechanical waves are waves that travel through some

forms of matter to carry their energy.

The matter that carries a wave is called medium, it can

be solid (ropes, and strings)
Mechanical wave requires a medium to propagate.

liquid (water)

Gas (Air)
Waves travel very quickly through solid, less quickly
through liquid and slowest through gases.

Mechanical wave can be either transverse or longitudinal

wave.

Examples.
1. sound waves
2. Seismic waves.

3. ropes and strings

4. Water waves.
H. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living
TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
Okay class, based on what we have discussed, what is
the importance of medium in mechanical wave?
Without a medium a mechanical wave will not be
able to propagate.
Do you think can hear me or any sound if there is no air
molecule? No ma’am.

I. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY

Do you have any clarifications?

None, Ma’am
1. If none, now who wants to sum up our
discussion today?
Yes Princess. Mechanical wave requires a medium to travel, a
medium can be solid, liquid, or gas.
Sound waves, and water waves are some examples of
mechanical waves.
Very good, let’s give him a round of applause.
Do you have any questions? None ma’am.

If none, please close all your notes and modules, we will

be having our short quiz.
J. Evaluating learning
TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
Let’s evaluate your learning.
Answer this for 5 minutes.
Choose the letter of the correct answer. Answer key.
