2016
School Grade Level 7
DAILY Teacher Learning Area SCIENCE
LESSON Teaching Date & Time / Quarter 3RD
LOG Grade & Sections

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrates an understanding of: the characteristics of sound.
B. Performance Standards The learner should be able to:
Conduct a forum on mitigation and disaster risk reduction.
C. Learning Learning Objectives:
Competencies/Objectives The learners shall be able to:
(Write the LC code for each)  Describe the characteristics of sound using the concept of
wavelength, velocity, and amplitude (S7FE-IIId-7).
Specific Objectives:
 Identify the characteristics of sound using the concept of wavelength,
velocity, and amplitude.
II. CONTENT SOUND

SOUND WAVES
III. LEARNING RESOURCES List the materials to be used in different days. Varied sources of materials sustain learners’ interest in the lesson and in
learning. Ensure that there is a mix of concrete and manipulative materials as well as paper-based materials. Hands-on
learning promotes concept development.
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages SLM, SSLM
2. Learners’ Material
pages
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials
from Learning
Resource (LR) portal

B. Other Learning Resources

Laptop, Smart Cellphone, Power Point Presentation, Internet connection
IV. PROCEDURES These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well.
Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities.
Sustain learning systematically by providing students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning,
question their learning process and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their experiences and
previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Prayer
presenting the new lesson Checking of attendance
Rules and Regulation
(ELICIT) Science Song
Teacher will ask about the previous lesson discussed.
I. Plickers

Learners will answer the 5 questions using their QR codes, the score will be automatically
encoded.

Answer the following:

1. The following are electromagnetic waves, EXCEPT

A. Infrared Rays C. Sound Waves
B. Gamma Rays D. X-Rays

2. What type of wave needs a medium to propagate?

A. Electromagnetic Waves C. Microwaves
B. Mechanical Waves D. Ultraviolet
rmb
3. Which type of wave is characterized by the parallel motion of the particles in the wave to the
wave propagation?
A. Electromagnetic Waves C. Mechanical Waves
B. Longitudinal Waves D. Transverse Waves

4. The following are examples of mechanical waves, EXCEPT

A. Longitudinal C. Sound
B. Surface D. X-Ray

5. What type of wave moves in circular motion relative to the direction of the wave motion?
A. Electromagnetic C. Surface
B. Mechanical D. Transverse
B. Establishing a purpose for ACTIVITY 1: GUESS THE SOUND
the lesson
Learners will guess the sounds.
(teacher will present it through a powerpoint presentation)

Let the students read the poem:

CAN YOU HEAR ME?
C. Presenting
by: Jaypee Kadalem Balera
examples/instances of the new Sounds are everywhere
lesson They are different, you can compare
(ENGAGE) From one medium they are there
Some of them are nice to hear
Sounds have different speeds
Depends on the medium its velocity indeed
Some are slow but some are fast if you believe
They travel in gas, liquid and also in solid
If you hear them loud
It’s amplitude makes it like sound of a crowd
The distance of crest or trough
Makes the beauty that is true
If it seems the sound is close or away
Wavelength will tell you how far its way
Just hear to make them stay
To understand them clear of what they say
The beauty of sound goes around
Appreciate the gift that makes them bound
Remember that sound make us bond
Vibration is the cause that produces sound
Guide Questions:
1. Do sounds vary in speed? If yes, how?
2. How does the poem define amplitude?
3. How does the poem define wavelength?
4. How does sound produce?
D. Discussing new concepts and LESSON PROPER
practicing new skills #1 The teacher will discuss Sound Waves using a powerpoint presentation.

practicing new skills #2

I. Evaluating learning QUIZ

Directions: Read and understand carefully. Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if
(EVALUATE) it is wrong. Write your answer on the space before the number.

_____1. Sound is produced by vibration.

_____2. Human voice is a result of the vibration of the vocal chords.
_____3. When there are no vibrations there is still sound produced.
_____4. Sound energy travels in the form of waves.
_____5. Sound does not require a medium to transmit energy.
rmb
_____6. Without any medium there is no sound that can be transmitted.
_____7. Sound can be heard only in air, not in liquids and solids.
_____8. Air or gas isACTIVITY
ADDITIONAL the best transmitter of sound.
_____9. Louder sound will be produced in liquids than in gases.
_____10. Sound can travel in a vacuum or in empty space.

V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your students’ progress this week. What works?
What else needs to be done to help the students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for
you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant questions.
A. No. of learners who earned
80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities or
remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons
work? No. of learners who have
caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who still need
to continue remediation
E. which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or localized
materials did I use/discover
which I wish to share with
other teachers?
